Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today, and I have a fun shaker tag created using some of the brand new Scalloped Circle Infinity Dies, the new Floral Journaling Bundle, and my favorite ink for no-line coloring with colored pencils: Unicorn White. Let's get started with the details!
When working with colored pencils on colored cardstock, I prefer to use Unicorn White pigment ink. The lines show up beautifully on the colored cardstock, while also blending smoothly into the colored pencil coloring. Sometimes, if you use a monochromatic ink, the dye ink can show through the colored pencil coloring, but because the white pigment ink sits on top of the colored cardstock, it works itself very nicely into the colored pencil pigment .For today's project, I stamped several of the floral images from Floral Journaling onto some Adriatic cardstock, then used Caran D'Ache colored pencils to add lots of pretty blues and aquas to create these monochromatic blooms. The colored pencils work so well with the Hero Arts Premium Cardstock; there is just enough tooth to the paper that they blend beautifully!
After I had finished coloring and die cutting my penciled blooms, I die cut the tag itself, cutting one solid scalloped circle using the largest Scalloped Circle Infinity Die from more Adriatic cardstock, then another of the same size using Hero Arts Acetate Sheets, then the top frame using the same large scalloped circle and one of the Nesting Circle Infinity Dies to cut out the center. I adhered the acetate scalloped circle to the frame, then added foam tape all the way around the opening, making sure that there were no gaps, and filled the shaker with Winter Sequins. The color scheme on the Winter Sequins works splendidly with the cool blues and aquas of my penciled florals!
After I had assembled my shaker tag, I punched a hole in the top using my Crop-A-Dile (remember those?) and added a satin ribbon loop. I arranged the colored flowers on the tag so that they were spilling over the edge, then added a greeting from Friendly Messages, which I heat embossed in white on another piece of Adriatic cardstock to keep things simple and monochromatic. How pretty would this tag be on a wedding gift or even a bottle of congratulatory wine?
