Painted Father's Day Design

Hi all! So good to have you joining me today, as always! With Father’s Day just around the corner, I thought it might be a good time to share a quick and easy card for the occasion. So important to show those we love a bit of appreciation, right? Today’s featured card makes use of a piece of painted watercolor paper. I encourage you to make more than one sheet so that when you need to make something in the future, you already have it available. I rarely throw away paper scraps from these either because they come in so handy when little parts and pieces are needed.

For the background I used a variety of Hero Arts inks and liquid watercolors on my paper. (Supplies are listed below). This is a random design and on a personal level, can be a hard thing for me to do because I like to control the outcome. Sometimes letting go and having fun gives the best results. I say try it! I splashed around several colors of watercolors and ink and then splattered it with a little white acrylic paint. Because I worked on a larger sheet of paper, I was able to choose the section I liked best for both my background and the Nesting Circle Infinity Dies. I added a smaller rectangular-piece of plain cardstock to the center of my chosen embellished piece, stitched it in place, and trimmed the entire larger piece to 4" x 5 1/4".

Using the Happy Father’s Day Fancy Die, words only, I cut several images out of Antique Ivory cardstock and adhered them together so that the design was dimensional. It was embellished with Root Beer and Licorice Reactive Inks. The coordinating shadow background was cut from Pitch Black cardstock. The Father’s Day sentiment was adhered to its shadow. The circles were die-cut and attached. The embossed sentiment stamped on Pitch Black cardstock was adhered to the larger sentiment using foam dots and then on to the top-folded card base. And there you have it!

There’s nothing like a handmade card to show someone how much you care. Hope this gets you started creating something special for dad!

XO,
