Today we're delighted to have Debi Adams here to share some fabulous “beyond the kit” ideas for a few of the add-ons.

Hi friends! Happy October! As usual, I’ve been busy creating with the new My Monthly Hero release and I’m loving all the new additions. From vintage-inspired designs to simple and cute images, Hero Arts has really brought a variety of art to the creative table. Today I want to share two new character designs that are paired with some existing images in our catalog. I think they really showcase the compatibility of our art as well as the talent that exists in Hero Arts Art Department. The designers never cease to amaze me with their endless vision and skills.

Whether you think of ice skating or Christmas caroling for the holidays, these stamps and die-cuts really embrace the season.

First up is this fun and festive card.

The new Christmas Carolers and lamp post were stamped with Intense Black ink onto Dove White cardstock, colored with Copic markers and cut out with the coordinating Christmas Carolers Frame Cuts. The Snowflake Pattern Cover Plate background was trimmed out in the middle then adhered to a brushed-blue ink background (Splash, Blue Hawaii and Navy inks) and attached to a top-folded card base. Hand-cut snow from Dove White Cardstock was attached at the bottom of the card and the sentiment stamped. The carolers and lamp post were adhered in place and the music notes stamped in black behind them. Can’t help but think that these three really do bring holiday cheer.

I have to tell you this next card was a bit more challenging for me creatively. I never like to have any of my cards look the same. Sometimes that means I spend time researching. Game on. Lol. What changed it all for me was using the Tri-Fold Edge Village Fancy Die set. With a big pond in the front and a village in the back, my Victorian Ice Skater cat was ready for the ice! For the red card base, I stamped the small snowflake image using Sea Salt Reactive ink and then added the die-cut, Antique Ivory cardstock village. (I went back with a white Uni-ball pen and add additional dot snowflakes.) I attached a Blue Hawaii-embellished oval to form a pond and added stamped and colored trees. The scene was now set for my cat. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment onto the pond and added another stamped, colored and die-cut image from the Holly Berries set. Challenge met. :) I love problem solving.

Well that’s my bit of “holiday cheer” to you. I love what I get to do and I love seeing what YOU do. Tag us on social media with #heroarts so we can send some love your way. Hoping this helps you get started on your holiday cards.

XO,
