Customizing Sentiments

Customizing Sentiments

The [hero_product_link sku="CL952" text="Hipster Animals"] can be used for so many different occasions - I used them to create a spring card here, and customized a sentiment to go with it.

When creating this card, it's best to build the wreath first, and then stamp the bunny. That way it's perfectly centered. Stamping the bunny first, and then the wreath? A bit harder to center - ask me how I know . ;)

The card uses some colors that almost turned fall-ish, but then I added some [hero_product_link sku="AF134" text="Soft Lilac"] and oila! Something about the light purple just keeps it real for spring. ;)

For the [hero_product_link sku="CL864" text="sentiment"], when I added my embossing powder on the sticky powder, I brushed off the tail of the "a" to change it to an "o". This is an easy way to customize the sentiment for the bunny. Look in your stamp stash for any other sentiments you may have with the word "happy" in it, and through selective inking or partial embossing, you can get a perfect sentiment to go with this bunny!

I love finding ways to customize and stretch my sentiment stamps - look at your own sentiment stash and see what fun customizations you can come up with!

Merci Mon Amie

Merci Mon Amie

Hello, or rather, Bonjour! Ernest Hemingway famously said, "There are only two places in the world where we can live happy: at home and in Paris." Although I've never been to Paris, I imagine myself traveling there every time that I use the beautiful [hero_product_link sku="H5984" text="Eiffel Tower"] stamp. Today, I'm sharing a French inspired thank-you card that I made featuring this iconic Paris monument.

First, I stamped the [hero_product_link sku="H5984" text="Eiffel Tower"] stamp on a piece of [hero_product_link sku="PS610" text="white layering paper"] with [hero_product_link sku="AF345" text="Intense Black Ink"]. I applied a quick, yellow watercolor wash over the stamped image and then fussy-cut around the tower shape.

To create a subtle and feminine background with a splash of sunny color, I started by stenciling a faint, floral pattern onto white paper. Using a foam applicator, I gently "pounced" [hero_product_link sku="AF257" text="Silver Ink"] over the [hero_product_link sku="SA067" text="Bold Floral Stencil"]. The result is a soft, elegant, and shimmery pattern. To add a pop-of-color to the black, white and gray design, I applied some yellow watercolors to the center of the stenciled panel. When the paper completely dried, I adhered the Eiffel Tower image.

I added a custom sentiment strip, Merci Mon Amie, or Thank You My Friend, that I created with [hero_product_link sku="DC181" text="Kelly's Alpha Tabs Stamp & Cut"] clear alphabet set. I love how easily these letters align for perfect sentiments every time. I sewed some stitching along the lower edge, mounted the panel to a [hero_product_link sku="PS697" text="gray"] card base, added a silver satin bow, and finally, placed a few scattered, [hero_product_link sku="CH215" text="black gems"] for extra interest.

Au revoir, wishing you another wonderful and crafty week!

Spring Has Sprung!

Spring Has Sprung!

I love working with tiny stamps, so today I am showing you two ways to use our [hero_product_link sku="LP398" text="Flower Garden Mini Tub"], which is full of small blooms perfect for spring! Just find a bunch of inks and white paper, and start playing. I randomly stamped the flowers in a pleasing flower collage. I decided I wanted to make this an Easter card, so I stamped the bunny from [hero_product_link sku="DC156" text="Millie Cut-Outs by Lia"] in [hero_product_link sku="AF208" text="Bubble Gum ink"], die-cut, and popped him up. The google eyes were a MUST.

In case you need a gift tag or enclosure, you can make this little basket of flowers - I used the shopping bag from [hero_product_link sku="DC156" text="Millie Cut-Outs by Lia"] for my "basket"! First I stamped out "Happy Easter" with [hero_product_link sku="LP369" text="Kelly's Bold Font alphabet"] in pink and lilac. Just randomly stamp your greens and flowers and cut them out like they are growing from the basket.
