Video: Winter Silhouettes Ornament

I like to think outside the box and stretch my stamps to create projects that go beyond cards. When I saw the little hanging ornaments in the catalog I fell in love with them and thought that along with the Winter Silhouettes stamp set they are match made in Heaven. The images from the Winter Silhouettes fit perfectly in the ornament to create cute winter scenes.

I started off by stamping and die cutting all the elements for my scene using the Winter Silhouettes set and die cutting using the coordinating Frame Cuts, Circle and Snowflake Infinity Dies and Circle Confetti Fancy Die. Since the images are solid I used the following ombré inks to achieve more dimension: Lime to Forever Green, Hydrangea and Soft Brown to Cup O'Joe. The background was sponged/ink blended using Soft Pool. For the snow slopes I used circle die cuts and cut the slopes with scissors.

For all the images and circle die cuts I used Snow Layering papers, and for the snowflakes Pool ones.

I wanted to add some dimension and perspective to the scene, so I popped some of the elements using mounting tape. To create more realistic snow slopes, applied Versamark and embossed with Sparkle Embossing powder. I added some Frost sequins to create a shaker effect.

After the scene was built I adhered the ornament using Multi Matte Medium (or any other strong adhesive). The adhesive was applied carefully using a micro tip applicator (usually used for dental work or make up). To finish off the ornament I added silver elastic cord and a bow.

Tip: to add weight to the ornament adhere a second snowflake die cut on the back. Adhere using mounting tape and use three pennies placed symmetrically and adhere them with glue dots. This will add weight to the ornament and will hang better from the Christmas tree.
