September My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #2 +Giveaway!

September My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #2 +Giveaway!

We are back for another countdown post, leading up to the release of the September My Monthly Hero kit! Release day is Tuesday, September 4th at 1pm Eastern/10 am Pacific. We'll be sharing ideas for using both the main kit, as well as new optional add-on products that will be available on Tuesday. And don't forget to leave a comment on this and every post as we will be giving away a kit on Tuesday. Now let's join Emily who is sharing another look at this fabulous kit...

Good morning! Emily Midgett here with you this morning to share some more inspiration using this absolutely lovely new My Monthly Hero Kit. I've combined the stunning fancy oval die included in this kit with some black card stock, the new Glimmer Metallic Inks, and some sequins to create a festive, dramatic shaker card. I love adding color to these fancy cover plate dies that have been in the kits recently, don't you? Let's get started with the details!

To start, I die cut the new fancy oval frame die included in the main kit from some black layering papers. I recently received the new Glimmer Metallic Inks that were released in our Season of Wonder Catalog. I knew that they were more opaque than our Liquid Watercolors, and so wanted to try them out on dark card stock. I wasn't disappointed! Even though the Black Layering Paper isn't technically made for watercoloring, it held up really nicely when I added the Glimmer Inks. I used Red, Copper and Bronze, and Gold Glimmer Metallic Inks to add color to my leaves, combining multiple colors on each leaf to create a mottled look. The paints really blended nicely with the addition of just a touch of water from my damp paint brush. After the leaves had dried, I backed the die cut panel with some acetate and added thin strips of foam adhesive around the edge of the back of the die cut.

For the greeting, I heat embossed the sentiment from the main kit on another panel of black layering paper using gold embossing powder. I filled the shaker with Ombre Blush Sequins, Ombre Sunshine Sequins, and Champagne Sequins to complement the colors of the leaves.

Well, that's all for me today! This kit is just gorgeous.... so many lovely images within the stamp set itself, and then when you add in this beautiful, detailed fancy die... Swoon! I hope you've enjoyed this second sneak peek into the September My Monthly Hero Kit!

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We'll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all the countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Tuesday morning, September 4th, before the kit launches at 1pm Eastern time. The more you comment, the more chances to win! Good luck!

I loved the leaves as I use leaves quite often in my Fall cards for all occasions. Anxious to see the final revealment.
