Masking for the Mimosa Drama

Hi there! Thank you for joining me, Janette Kausen, on the Hero Arts blog today! The project I am sharing today features champagne flutes from the new Gal Pal Brunch stamp set and a bit of simple masking to create drama.

When masking always stamp the image you want to appear closest to you first. It may seem counterintuitive, but I promise it works! Stamp a flute just tilted off center in Intense Black ink. Cut two or three masks of the same image out of full stick postie notes. Simplify this easy fussy cut by leaving a few of the notes stacked together while cutting. The full stick means no slipping and sliding as you cut.

Place mask over the first stamped image and stamp another overlapping a little or a lot. You choose! Repeat several times, shifting masks as needed. Copic color images. I used Y04, Y08, Y17 and Y38 for this citrusy Mimosa look. The glassware is in B0000 outlined by C00 and C1 for a touch of depth. Stamp and color a few bubbles, as well.

Add an outline of a Rounded Rectangle Infinity Die by tracing with a fine point black marker. Add a generous layer or two of your favorite sparkly shimmer pen over the refreshing mimosas. Finish the card by white detail embossing the charming sentiment, adding an orange slice and a spiral peel garnish.
