March My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #6 + Giveaway

March My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #6 + Giveaway

Hello and welcome back to the countdown to the release of the March My Monthly Hero Kit! Release day is Monday, March 4 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. Now let’s join Jess, who is sharing a different take on this fun kit for our final peek!

Hello! Jess here and I have fallen head over heels for this AMAZING kit! Last summer I attended the Coloring Road Trip at Hero Arts with my mom and then we continued south to spend a few days in Monterey, California! I lived in Monterey when I was a young child and have fond memories of spending hours each week in the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium! So that was a must-see on our trip and thirty years later it did not disappoint! When I saw the March My Monthly Hero kit my mind was immediately drawn to the tank die...and it reminded me of the huge kelp forest tank at the aquarium.

The exhibit is a HUGE vertical tank with natural growing kelp and plant life throughout. So I decided to turn the kit die on its side to create a similar vertical look and here's what I created!

To start I die-cut the tank die from Hero Hues Pitch Black cardstock and set it aside. Next I blended a piece of Hero Hues Dove White cardstock using the gorgeous Reactive Inks included in the kit! I started in the bottom left with Blue Water, then Sea Glass, and finally Sea Salt in the top right corner. The Sea Salt ink mostly toned down the Sea Glass ink creating this gorgeous light teal shade! Once the panel was dry I splattered it with water to lift some of the ink and create lots of bubbles!

Once the panel was dry I stamped the school of fish several times with Versafine to create a big swirl. Then I stamped the sentiment with Versafine and heat-embossed both with Ultra Fine Clear Embossing Powder. Finally I adhered the tank die vertically oriented over my card panel and adhered that to a white card base! It's simple, but striking, and I'm positive my mom will love it as a reminder our of trip! :)

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, March 4, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Good luck!
