March My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #2 + Giveaway

March My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #2 + Giveaway

It's time for our second countdown peek! The March My Monthly Hero kit will be available on Monday, March 4 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. Now let’s join Emily, who is sharing another look at this wonderful kit!

Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you for some more inspiration using this month's My Monthly Hero kit. This month's kit puts one in mind of deep sea scuba diving and of colorful saltwater fish tanks. There are some really fun elements to this month's kit, so let's get started with the details on my countdown card!

I started by using the new Reactive Ink cubes included in the March 2019 My Monthly Hero kit. I wanted a super saturated panel of paper for my background, so I rubbed the ink cubes directly onto a panel of white A2 card stock, blending the Sea Glass and Blue Water Reactive Inks to create a smooth blend. These new inks react wonderfully when water is applied, so I spritzed the panel with water and while drying, the color nearly melted away to create an interesting, almost bubbly, texture for my background.

After my panel had dried completely (it had warped a little, so I placed it under a stack of magazines to flatten it out), I used those same inks to stamp several images from the March My Monthly Hero kit, concentrating the colors on their respective blended areas (green with green, blue with blue). I wanted to create almost the shadow of a silhouette, like viewing something on the ocean floor from far away while scuba diving. I stamped several coral and kelp images on the ocean "floor" and several fish images in the upper part of the panel as my "ocean." I also heat embossed a sentiment from the main kit using white embossing powder.

To create the shaker part of my card front, I die cut the beautifully detailed aquarium cover plate die from Pitch Black card stock and backed it with acetate, then added foam tape all around the edges. I then filled my shaker using a variety of sequins, as well as the blue and green "bubbles" that are included in the kit.

Well, that's all for me today! I hope you're enjoying the sneak peeks, because this kit is SO much fun! Now, I have some fun giveaway information for you:

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, March 4, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!
