Let Heaven and Angels Sing!

Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today for some super feminine angelic inspiration using a few of the beautiful new products from the 2021 Holiday Collection! I sometimes shy away from wood block stamps, in general, just because I want to use my MISTI all day every day (ha!), but I will make an exception for some stamps whose incredible detail and beauty can only be captured perfectly using a red rubber wood mount stamp, like the detail on the Christmas Angel stamp.

The delicate feminine beauty on the Christmas Angel was so stunning that I couldn't help but make my project an homage to pink and gold! I began by gold embossing the gorgeous stamp on some watercolor paper, then used a mixture of Mulled Wine and Pink to create her robe, Pink and Cocoa for her wings, and Moss for her crown of holly. After I'd finished watercoloring, I used my scissors to fussy cut the image.

I'm kind of a stickler about my whites matching on cards, and the creamy undertones of my watercolor paper meant that I needed creamy undertones to my card base. Enter Antique Ivory cardstock. Because the beautiful angel is so decidedly feminine and delicate, I thought that the beautiful bouquet from the Christmas Rose stamp set would mesh beautifully with the angel. I gold embossed the Christmas Rose, then used blending brushes to blend Soft Blossom and a touch of Raspberry Jam along the bottom edge of the embossed card base. The soft blending highlights the delicate details of the Christmas Rose image. I also splattered some Bronze Metallic Ink to add even more metallic shine.

I heat embossed the "peace" greeting from Christmas Rose on some more Antique Ivory cardstock, then fussy cut with my sharp scissors. Finally, I popped the angel and sentiment up on the floral blended card front using foam adhesive for some extra dimension!

Well, that's all for my project today. I love traditional holiday colors, but sometimes an image just lends itself so well to a particular color family, you know? I hope you'll try making some holiday cards with non-traditional color schemes, too! They're so much fun!

Don't forget about the $10 off $25 offer in the Hero Arts shop happening now – it's the perfect time stock up on some holiday goodies and other essentials! Domestic orders of $50 or more also ship FREE. How great is that?

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!

Lindar C,

Stunning card! I love this stamp, but can’t use wood mounted stamps due to arthritis, so I hope it gets released in clear stamp form.

Melissa SunshineHoneyBee,

Angelic sparkleness.
