June My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #3 + Giveaway

June My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #3 + Giveaway

Hello! It's time for another look at the June My Monthly Hero Kit before the kit releases on Monday, June 3 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. We will be here for the rest of the weekend, sharing inspiration before the launch. Now let's join Michelle for another look at this fabulous kit.

Another fantastic kit this month! I love jungle foliage and animals and this kit has it all! This kit lends itself to green hues but I wanted to do something a little different and work with purples for my card.

Jungle of Joy by Michelle Short for Hero Arts

I first took the elephant from the main kit stamp set and stamped it on to white cardstock with Intense Black Ink. I coloured it with Copic Markers and die cut it out with the coordinating Frame Cuts, which are also in the kit. He was then set aside while I worked on the background.

I took a 5.25" x 4" panel of white cardstock and stamped the sentiment on to it using more Intense Black Ink. I then ran the cardstock through my die cutting machine with the stencil that comes in the kit and an embossing mat. This stencil gives a really lovely pattern to the cardstock.

I wanted to add a little colour behind the elephant, so I took Thistle Reactive Ink and blended this on to the panel with a blender brush. This gives a nice subtle glow around the elephant and helps it to pop off the card.

The panel was added to a top folding card base with foam tape and then the elephant added on top with more foam tape. A very simple card but I really love the texture and pattern that the stencil gives to it.

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post. We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts. The winner will be announced first thing Monday morning, June 3, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Good luck!

Elephants are my favourite! The clean and simple look of this card is charming. This card would work for any occasion. I particularly like the embossed background. It adds beautiful but subtle texture.

This card reminds me of my trip to Pakistan. Nice subtle purple colors. This kit is different from your safari kit and I am sure you can combine elements from both sets.

I think the Thistle Reactive Ink finished the project nicely and tied in your amazing colouring of your elephant perfectly. Beautiful card!

Great job with the purple shading around the elephant. I like the embossing folder circles in the background. Cute baby card.
