July My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #6 + Giveaway!

MMH Countdown to Creativity

We're back with another look at the fabulous Color Layering Octopus set - an optional add-on item when the July My Monthly Hero kit launches on Tuesday, July 5th at 1pm eastern/10am pacific. Here's Jayne to share how she used this fun and unique set.

Until I started stamping with the new Color Layering Octopus set, available as an add-on stamp set during the July My Monthly Hero release, I had no idea how much I would absolutely adore this wonderful set! And, I realized that I didn't have any other stamp set like this in my stamp collection. The realistic octopus image is inspiring and perfect for both masculine and feminine cards. This fun set also includes several script sentiments and an assortment of small marine life stamps.

For my first card, I simply stamped an octopus on two opposite corners of a panel of hero_product_link sku="PS610" text="white"] layering paper with hero_product_link sku="AF223" text="Tide Pool"] and hero_product_link sku="AF234" text="Navy"] inks. After a bit of practice, I discovered that when I carefully aligned the eyes on the solid and detailed stamps, it was very easy to stamp a beautifully layered octopus. Using a hero_product_link sku="MI002" text="sponge dauber"], I added some subtle waves to the panel with the hero_product_link sku="SA075" text="Waves Stencil"] and hero_product_link sku="AF146" text="Soft Pool"] ink. I finished the card by adding a foam-mounted, hero_product_link sku="PW110" text="white"] embossed sentiment.

While I was having so much fun with this stamp set, I created a second, similar card with a few more layers. This time, I stamped two octopuses on a narrow panel of hero_product_link sku="PS610" text="white"] layering paper and then fussy-cut around some of the octopus arms to create a decorative edge along both sides of the stamped panel. Once again, I added subtle waves to the panel with the hero_product_link sku="SA075" text="Waves Stencil"] and hero_product_link sku="AF146" text="Soft Pool"] ink. I also used the stencil with hero_product_link sku="AF249" text="Unicorn"] ink to cover a larger piece of vellum. Once the white ink dried, I layered the pieces onto a hero_product_link sku="PS640" text="tide"] card base and then added a hero_product_link sku="PW110" text="white"] embossed, friend sentiment.
