July My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #5 + Giveaway

July My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #5 + Giveaway

It's time for our next countdown peek! The July My Monthly Hero kit will be available on Monday, July 1 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. Now let’s join Emily, who is sharing another look at this wonderful kit!

Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you for another sneak peek of this month's fantastic My Monthly Hero kit! This month's theme is all things outside... swimming, fishing, camping, mountains, forests... In addition to the fun images of fishing and swimming, some beautifully serene images are included in this month's kit. I chose to focus on the tranquil dock setting and a silhouette of trees against a sunset for my project today. Let's get started on the details!

I began by stamping the dock image on some white cardstock using Soft Brown and Wet Cement inks, going back a bit later and intensifying the details on the dock with a pencil. I die cut the dock image with the coordinating dock die. I also trimmed an A2 panel of white card stock, then cut a circle from the center using the Circle Infinity Dies. I used this and the dock die cut as a guide to determine placement of my tree silhouettes, which I stamped in Intense Black. I then masked off the bottom using Post-It notes and blended Orchid, Ultra Pink, Soft Apricot, and Butter Bar inks to create a blazing sunset behind the trees.

Next, I covered the sunset that I'd just blended with the Post-Its and blended Pool beneath to create the lake, stamping the ripples using the same ink. I also stamped some cattails using more black ink on the bottom of the circle, as well as some cattails and grass using Moss ink. I also stamped the birthday greeting (included in the July kit!) in black towards the bottom of the white A2 panel.

I layered the white circle die cut panel over the sunset panel using foam adhesive, finally adding the dock and greenery. Such a peaceful scene!

Well, that's all for my project today. I hope you're enjoying the sneak peeks... this is a kit that you won't want to miss out on!! Now for some fun giveaway information!

Beautiful card, Emily. I feel since we share the same first name, I will be able to create this beautiful card once my kit arrives, right?

Now that is where I would love to be today or any summer day. Sitting on the end of the dock with my feet in the water listening to the birds sing and the fish jump. There is no more peaceful place for me than by the water
