December My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #5 and Giveaway!

We are back with another look at the December My Monthly Hero release! The kit will be available on Monday, December 4th at 1pm Eastern/10 am Pacific. We’ll be sharing ideas for using the main kit and optional add-on products all weekend long, so stay tuned for more project inspiration! Now let’s join Jess, who is sharing another look at this gorgeous kit.

Hello! Jess here with a Disney-inspired card using the new My Monthly Hero kit! I'll admit as soon as I saw this kit I was humming "A Whole New World" pretty much nonstop!

I was totally the little girl dreaming of a magic carpet ride when that movie came out in the early 90s! ;) So I decided to take that inspiration and make my own magic carpet ride scene. I started by taking a panel of watercolor paper cut 4.25" by 7.5" and blended it with Tangerine, Strawberry, Rose Madder, Orchid, and Indigo hybrid inks. I wanted to create a vivid ombre sunset so I applied several layers of colors with my blending tool to build up a bright background.

Then I placed the carpet stamp on my acrylic block but I curved it just slightly on the block to give it more of a "flying" look! ;) I stamped it on watercolor paper with Versamark and then heat-embossed it with brass embossing powder. I fussy cut the carpet and then watercolored it using the Hero Arts dot palette! Finally I stamped the sand dunes and sentiment onto a golden cardstock that's included in the kit and heat-embossed it with the same brass embossing powder. I fussy cut it and then adhered it over the ombre sky. To finish the card I adhered the carpet with foam mounting tape and trimmed off the edge. The perfect scene for a magic carpet ride, right? :)

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We'll randomly draw one lucky winner from all of the comments left across all countdown posts and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, December 4th, before the kit launches at 1pm Eastern. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Thanks so much for stopping by and make sure to come back later today for one last look at the kit! ;)
