Hi everyone, it’s Joy Baldwin here! Today I'm sharing a super cute Fall card using products from the Cozy Season collection. I’ll be showing you a few fun techniques that add that little extra something, plus a sweet interactive surprise for your recipient!
Cute, Cozy & Creative with Cozy Season
I absolutely love creating Halloween cards, and while I tend to lean toward the spooky side with my color choices, this design could easily be turned into something much more cute and playful. Try swapping out the darker colors for a pink and orange combination. Sometimes simply changing the color palette can completely change the personality of a card!

The Candy Corn Heat-Resist Background
Every great card needs a fun background! I started by stamping the Cozy Vibes Cling Stamp onto an A2-sized piece of white cardstock using clear embossing ink. Next, I sprinkled on white embossing powder and heat-set it until it was nice and shiny.
To reveal the heat-embossed design, we’re going to mimic candy corn colors with ink blending. Start at the bottom with Mustard Seed Distress Oxide ink and blend about a third of the way up. Blend Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide ink above the yellow, lightly seamlessly combining the two where they meet. Gently fade the orange into white toward the top of the card so it feels just like a piece of festive candy corn!
Crafting the Shaded Black Cat
Next up is the adorable cat from the Kitty Squeezer Die Set. Instead of using plain black cardstock, I cut the cat from Anchor cardstock (a dark grey) and added shading around the edges with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink. Ink blending black ink on dark grey paper creates a soft, dimensional black cat look with plenty of visible depth. I also ink-blended the cat's eyes, ears, and the small paper candy corn piece from the die set, then glued all the facial details and paper candy corn layers together.
Creating the Bonus Felt Charm
For a fun little extra surprise, I made a coordinating felt candy corn charm that doubles as a gift! Using the exact same paper candy corn die from the Kitty Squeezer set, I die-cut three solid pieces from white felt, as well as the individual color layers from white, yellow, and orange felt. I stitched the layers together and added a small piece of twine at the top for a hanger loop.
Assembling the Card
Secure the shaded kitten to your ink-blended background using foam adhesive for extra pop. Stamp a greeting from the Hide & Peek Stamp & Cut, cut it out using the coordinating die, and adhere it near the top of the card panel. Glue the paper candy corn permanently inside the cat's arms. Slip the felt candy corn charm right over the paper one inside the cat's paws. Do not glue it down!
Now, the recipient can pull out the felt charm to keep or hang up, while the card still looks complete with the paper candy corn underneath!
