Hi friends! Today we are sharing another installment of our monthly series, Celebrating Black Crafters, where we share artwork from Black artists who we'd love for you to get to know. Today our fabulous guest artist is Mirisha Dean!
I have been a faithful crafter for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Virginia, my first project was sewing by hand, which was taught to me by my grandmother. Through the years I've dabbled in many crafts. From painting, scrapbooking, jewelry making, sewing, and wreath making, if an idea comes to mind I run to my nearest Michaels grab my supplies, and bring my idea to life. It's been about 7 years since I created a card, and thankfully last year that spark was reignited.
Residing in North Carolina, I am the proud mom of two fur babies, Molly and Heaven, and I enjoy using my crafty gift to inspire others by teaching DIY classes, creating candy buffets, and event decorating. In my spare time I enjoy singing on the gospel choir and volunteering at my church, shopping, and a good movie, or documentary, with popcorn on the side.
The inspirations for my card creations were unity, hope and love. With the current events in the world today we need those reminders that love conquers all, and when we come together no matter our differences, amazing things can happen.
For my heart card I used a simple technique using Distress Oxide inks. I used the inks to create a watercolor background, and stamp the hearts. I completed this card by stamping and embossing the sentiment, and layering my heart for dimension. The heart and sweet message are from Kids United.
For the world card I merged two stamps - Beautiful World and American Women - into one by using the masking technique. I then colored and completed this card by stamping and embossing the sentiment from the Empowerment stamp set.
And finally, for the puzzle card I first stamped and embossed the image and sentiment from Kids United, then I used Nuvo Shimmer Powder to create a watercolor background. I completed the card by using the Puzzle Fancy Die to create a look as if a puzzle was being put together.

Wonderful variety from multi-stamping, coloring & puzzle idea. I have the puzzle die & yet to use so now you’ve inspired me to get to using it.
