DIY Marbling with Silks | Spellbinders Live

Join Kim Kesti in the Creative Classroom as she explores a unique marbling technique using Glimmer Specialty Paper .

DIY Marbling with Silks | Spellbinders Live

This marbling technique begins with  Spellbinders Silks . Have you ever used our Silks? They’re water-based inks with a beautiful metallic glint, and they come in Silver, Gold, Onyx and Sparkle, plus additional colors under the Fun Stampers Journey brand. Silks are packaged in adorable bottles that look just like nail polish, even with a brush tip.  Spellbinders Silks  are much thinner than nail polish, and they allow for lots of fun techniques. Tap on the cap to lay down a simple splatter across your project, or paint it on with the brush. Today Kim shares another way to use Silks - marbling!

Along with the Silk, Kim uses Glimmer Specialty Paper for today’s project. This special paper isn’t just for hot foiling! Because of its unique quality, this synthetic paper resists water and ink and it’s the perfect surface for marbling with Silks and a misting of water.

To begin this technique, spritz Glimmer Specialty paper with water, and then splatter Silk across the panel. The water and Silk will begin to puddle up and naturally creates a marbling pattern. Then, spritz with additional water until you create your desired look. This will take a long time to dry - you may even want to let it sit overnight, allowing the water to evaporate. Try this idea with any color of Silk - or combine multiple colors together! Watch the video to see the different colors that Kim tried out.
Kim finished off her beautiful marble cards with simple Glimmer sentiments and sparkly gems.  Find all of the Silks  we carry in the Spellbinders Shop, along with the Glimmer Specialty Paper (in a  10-sheet pack   or  25-sheet pack .) We’re so glad you joined us today! You’ll find us live each week on the  Spellbinders Facebook page  and  YouTube channel  every Friday at 10 am MST. Subscribe, so you don’t miss a thing!
