October My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #4 + Giveaway

October My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #4 + Giveaway

It's time for our fourth countdown peek! The October My Monthly Hero kit will be available on Monday, October 7 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. Now let’s join Caly, who is sharing another look at this wonderful kit!

Hello, Friends! I hope you're ready for the holidays because we've got a holiday set coming at you with a retro feel! My countdown card today focuses on one of the two Christmas trees in this month's My Monthly Hero Kit (that's right! I said one of two Christmas trees - it's nice that you have the option!)

I stamped my images with Intensified Black Ink to color with Copic markers. It's a sparse tree like the Charlie Brown tree so I added some bits of colors to each branch and used similar colors throughout.

Copic colors used:
Reds: R05, R27, R29
Greens: YG07, G29
Teals: BG24, BG49
Blues: B16, B29
Purples: V01, V04
Yellows: Y00, Y08
Grays: C1, C4, C7

After coloring, I die-cut the images and added white gel highlights to them before setting them aside to work on the background. On a Dove White Top Folded card base, I ink-blended Squeezed Lemonade at the top and Broken China Distress Oxide Inks from the bottom. Where the two colors meet, a green organically mixes on its own. I sprayed the area with water droplets and also splattered some white and black paint to give the background some interest.

I set the card base aside to dry and used a Rectangle Infinity Die to cut a window from an A2-sized panel, centering it as best I could. I trimmed my panel to mat the card base and stamped a sentiment on the bottom portion. I added foam adhesive to the frame and adhered it over my ink-blended cardbase then decorated it with my colored images. The final thing I did was add Crystal Clear Lacquer over the ornaments.

This is a little teaser for my card that I'm sharing for the blog hop. Be sure to join us on Monday! Thank you all for stopping by!

A very nice, subtle and serene looking blue, green & yellow background. Love the tree and ornaments. The black splatters in the background pops out at you. Creates a great effect.

I love the sentiment so much! I love how you added highlights with the gel pen. Never thought of that. Brilliant! Can’t wait to see the rest of the kit.

This is so bright and colourful! And I’ve ended up with a sparse looking tree a few times!
