June My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #3 + Giveaway!

MMH Countdown to Creativity

I love Hero Arts Monthly Kits because even the packaging is designed with crafters in mind and can be easily incorporated into a project. For the card I'm sharing here I trimmed small part of the cardstock packaging - the airmail stripe and layered it under my die cut background.

But let me start at the beginning first. I am a big fan of dies and I was very excited to see a bunch of mini icon dies in this kit. I don't think I have any other airplane dies or suitcase dies in my stash.

With smaller dies I love to make my own unique backgrounds. I used an airplane one and paired it with red cardstock and repeated negative die cutting technique for a one of a kind background.

I used foam adhesive and adhered my die cut background onto a navy-blue card base. I love this traditional postal red, blue and white color combo; even though it doesn't look good on every card it works wonderfully for travel cards.

I went with a simple Hello sentiment and stamped it in hero_product_link sku="AF101" text="black ink"], I also added a little palm tree next to it, because to me - summer and travel are all about palm trees.

Before I successfully created the red negative die cut panel I attempted die cutting an identical one out of white and had a lot of white die cut airplanes on my desk. To use one of them on my card I tied some twine from the kit, added a wooden clothespin from my stash and tucked one of the little airplanes in.
