June My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway!

Hello and welcome as we begin the countdown to the release of the June My Monthly Hero kit! Release day is Monday, June 5th at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. We’ll be here all weekend long, sharing ideas for using both the main kit, as well as new optional add-on products that will be available on Monday. And don’t forget to comment on each and every post as we’ll be giving away a kit on Monday morning, before the kit launches! Here’s Jess with a first look at the kit!

Wild About You by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Hero ArtsGood morning! Jess here and I am so excited to kick off the June My Monthly Hero kit countdown! Last month’s kit fed my love of The Little Mermaid and this month I’ve been singing ‘Hakuna Matata’ from The Lion King every time I sit down with this kit! ;)

Anyway, I started by blending Mulled Wine, Rust, and Butter Bar ink on a piece of Snow Layering Paper to create a summer sunrise. Two of those inks are included in the kit and one is part of a new add-on ombre ink! Then I trimmed the cardstock down to 3.5″ by 7″ and stamped the trees from the kit stamp set with Intense Black ink onto the panel. Next I die-cut the grass and large tree from black cardstock. I had to die-cut the grass twice to get it to cover the irregularly sized panel but I hid the line where they meet behind the tree! ;)

Wild About You by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Hero ArtsI also die-cut that gorgeous sun from the kit using one of the included shimmery papers. I feel like that sun is really an iconic image when you think of an African sunrise or sunset. Seriously, Google it…my card fits right in! ;) Then I adhered the ink blended panel to a black card base and then added the sun and the grasses. I used foam mounting tape to adhere my tree die for a little extra dimension. Finally I stamped the sentiment from the kit onto black cardstock, heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder, trimmed it down to a fishtail banner, and adhered it with foam mounting tape.

Wild About You by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Hero ArtsAll it needs now is Simba! ;) Thanks so much for visiting and make sure to stop by all weekend long for more sneaks of the June My Monthly Hero kit!

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all of the comments left across all countdown posts and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, June 5th, before the kit launches at 1pm Eastern. The more you comment, the more chances you’ll have to win!

Good luck!!
