Coloring Henna Patterns on Kraft

Coloring Henna Patterns on Kraft

When was the last time that you made a card with kraft paper? I love the look of kraft cards but it's not one of my usual go-to colors. So today, for a change, I'm sharing a kraft card that features images from the beautiful, new Ornate Henna Patterns stamp set.

To make my card, I simply stamped several of the henna pattern stamps randomly onto a vertical panel of kraft paper with black ink. Then, I used a few colored pencils to color parts of each image. I especially like using a white pencil on kraft paper as it adds brightness to the final design.

Before securing the colored panel to the card base with foam tape, I matted the panel with white cardstock. Using a VersaMark pen, I embossed a narrow, gold stripe on each side of the white mat with brass embossing powder. It's a small, metallic detail that is a wonderful contrast to the muted kraft paper.

To finish the card, I added two, embossed sentiments, a trio of clear gems, and a small loop of ribbon. The possibilities for creating patterned backgrounds and borders with the Ornate Henna Patterns set seem limitless!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a terrific day,

I enjoy the simplicity and bright color to contrast the paper :)

This card reminds me of my mom’s and grandmom’s ‘rangoli’ (these designs are called so in India) that they used to put in the entrance of the house! Thank you for the lovely card :)

Love this card!! It is so simple and yet so beautiful!! The pattern you created is perfect and I love your colour combination. I’m learning that I really like the look of coloured pencil on kraft paper and it seems very fitting with the henna designs. And that thin line of brass embossing is a great finishing touch!!
