Squeaky Clean Etched Dies Card Tutorial – Step-by-Step Scene Building Guide

Squeaky Clean Etched Dies Card Tutorial – Step-by-Step Scene Building Guide

Hello there, Michelle Short here to share a step-by-step tutorial with you using the Squeaky Clean Etched Dies from the Shiny New Day collection. Whilst cleaning is something a lot of us hate to do, making cards using cute die cuts is definitely something fun, and I loved putting all the die cuts together to create this scene! I kept to a minimal colour palette today – just aqua, yellow, and white, which helps the scene not look too busy. There are other dies in the set, though, so if you like more full scenes, you can do that too! HOW TO CREATE A LAYERED CLEANING SCENE USING SHINY NEW DAY COLLECTION, S4-1525, STP-278

DIE-CUTTING THE DIES

HOW TO CREATE A LAYERED CLEANING SCENE USING SHINY NEW DAY COLLECTION, S4-1525, STP-278 This was such a fun card to make! Clean and Simple Card Ideas with the Shiny New Day Collection

Hello, crafty friends! Marie here from Marie Nicole Designs. I am sharing a trio of fun, colorful, clean and simple cards with you today featuring the Shiny New Day collection! This collection is so fun! It includes an embossing folder for you to add some textured designs to your cards, some florals that are pretty and easy to assemble, and many cleaning supplies you can cut from dies, color, and add to your cards. I chose to create one cleaning-themed card, a floral card, and a card that mixes the two. Let’s take a look!

CLEAN AND SIMPLE

So Fresh, So Clean - Shiny New Day Collection, E3D-171, S3-573, S4-1525, STP-278 Like I already mentioned, all these cards are a clean and simple style, but this one really emphasizes the clean. Using the Squeaky Clean die set, I cut out all the pieces to assemble the cleaning supplies. I then used a fresh color palette of alcohol markers to color these die pieces. Markers can give a very smooth look to your coloring if that is what you are going for. But if you don’t want to use markers, you could always add color with ink or just cut pieces from colored cardstock. So Fresh, So Clean - Shiny New Day Collection, E3D-171, S3-573, S4-1525, STP-278 After my cleaning supplies were colored and assembled, I set them aside to work on my card base. I cut a circle from the card base, slightly off the side, and then layered that panel over another piece of cardstock that I embossed with the Suds and Buds embossing folder. This folder is great because it gives you two designs on one folder! I will show you the second design later in this post on my next card. I used the sentiment, “A tidy hello” and stamped it at a slight curve to have it follow the circle frame. Then, I just added my die cuts in a fun arrangement using liquid and foam adhesive.

FRESH FLORALS

So Fresh, So Clean - Shiny New Day Collection, E3D-171, S3-573, S4-1525, STP-278 This card features the florals of this collection. I love it when a collection includes florals. They are so versatile with most themes, and you can use them on their own, if you wish. The background is the second design on the Suds and Buds embossing folder. And it fits perfectly with the floral theme of the card. I used that circle cut-out from my first card to add over the embossed design as a frame for my sentiment and wreath of flowers. So Fresh, So Clean - Shiny New Day Collection, E3D-171, S3-573, S4-1525, STP-278 I wanted to show how you could use this collection to make a general thank-you card without the theme of cleaning supplies if you choose. I love that in the punny Shiny New Day sentiment stamps, there are some sentiments that can be used apart from the cleaning theme. This gives you more flexibility in creating. So I chose the simple thank you sentiment and stamped it in black. Then, I arranged the flowers from the Petal Fresh die set all around the circle to create a wreath. The flowers are cut from white cardstock and colored with markers just like the die cuts from my first card. Once all those flowers were in place, I finished the card with some clear sequins for extra sparkle.

A BUCKET OF FLOWERS

So Fresh, So Clean - Shiny New Day Collection, E3D-171, S3-573, S4-1525, STP-278 My third card features the images from both the cleaning supplies and the flowers, just to show how cute they all are together! I again colored everything with markers to continue the look of the cards as a set. I did add some polka dots to the gloves with a white gel pen, and I think that extra pattern just adds extra cuteness, don’t you? So Fresh, So Clean - Shiny New Day Collection, E3D-171, S3-573, S4-1525, STP-278 The background is kept clean and simple by simple masking off a strip with some low-tack tape, and then ink-blending a yellow on in a half-circle shape. I stamped the sentiment off to the left side with black ink, and then arranged all the images with foam and liquid adhesive. I hope you enjoyed this trio of cards featuring the Shiny New Day collection! The flowers are gorgeous, and the cleaning supplies are so cute! Until next time, Marie Nicole [spellbinders-supplies]E3D-171,S3-573,S4-1525,STP-278,PE-104[/spellbinders-supplies]

Creating the Die Cut Wedding Mice

Begin by die cutting all of the elements for both the bride and groom using ColorWheel Cardstock in a mix of soft neutrals and classic tones. There are quite a few pieces, so it really helps to keep everything organized in a tray as you work. Once everything is cut, we can move on to assembling the characters.

Wedding Mouse Card Tutorial with Dies | Step-by-Step DIY Cardmaking Guide

Assembling the Bride Mouse

  • Start with the bride’s face, layering the facial features onto the base using small amounts of liquid glue. The etched guidelines make placement nice and easy.
  • Next, build her dress. Attach the bodice first, then tuck the skirt layer underneath to create a dimensional look. Add the arms behind the bodice and finish with her tiny shoes.

Wedding Mouse Card Tutorial with Dies | Step-by-Step DIY Cardmaking Guide

  • For the veil, align the curved top with her head and adhere the layers in place. Add floral details to the top for a soft, romantic touch, then finish with a waistband and bow.
  • A little sparkle goes a long way here—add a touch of glitter glue to the flowers and shoes for a delicate shimmer.

Assembling the Groom Mouse

  • The groom comes together in a similar way. Start with the face, then move on to his outfit.
  • Add the trousers and shoes first, then attach the sleeves to the arms before assembling the jacket. Layer the jacket pieces using the guidelines for alignment, then add the waistcoat and lapels.

Wedding Mouse Card Tutorial with Dies | Step-by-Step DIY Cardmaking Guide

  • Finish with the bow tie and place his hat at a slight angle for a bit of personality.
  • Taking your time with the layering really makes all the difference here.

Adding Floral Details and Accessories

  • To bring everything together, die cut a few small flowers and hearts from coordinating cardstock.
  • Assemble the flowers and tuck them into the bride’s hand to create a bouquet. These little details add so much charm and help tell the story of the card.

Wedding Mouse Card Tutorial with Dies | Step-by-Step DIY Cardmaking Guide

Creating a Foiled Sentiment

  • For the sentiment, use a press or foil plate set to create a crisp, elegant greeting.
  • Foil the sentiment onto white cardstock using black foil, then die cut it with the coordinating die. The foiled finish adds a beautiful, professional touch that works perfectly for a wedding theme.

Assembling the Card

  • Die cut an oval frame from blush cardstock and adhere it to an A2 white card base.
  • Add foam adhesive to the back of the bride, groom, and sentiment to create dimension. Position the mice facing each other inside the frame, then place the sentiment above them.
  • Finish by adding a few small hearts around the design to fill in the space and tie everything together.
  • For the final touch, add a bit of sparkle to the bouquet with glitter glue.

This design may look detailed, but it’s simply a matter of building up the layers step by step. The result is a dimensional, storybook-style card that’s perfect for weddings, engagements, or anniversaries.

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s tutorial and feel inspired to create your own version.
