Video: Small Scene Building

Video: Small Scene Building

Hello there, Michelle here and I am delighted to be joining you today to share a card and video using the newest partners release set - HA + Lawn Fawn Big Thanks.

Big Thanks by Michelle Short for Hero Arts

I love creating scenes on my card, but I often like to limit them to one area, which pleases my clean and simple design process! I am a big fan of the rule of thirds - keeping your focal point to one third of the card. As you can see here, I picked the upper top third for my scene today.

To see how I created the card, you can watch the video here:

If you are having trouble viewing the video, you can watch it HERE on YouTube.

To start my card, I stamped out the images that I wanted to use from the Big Thanks stamp set on to white cardstock with Intens-ified Black Ink. I then coloured the images using Copic Markers before die cutting using the Big Thanks dies. They were then set aside while I worked on the background for my scene.

I first die cut the grass from the Thorn Tree and Grasses Fancy Die set from Hero Hues Kiwi Cardstock. I then took Key Lime Fizz and Green Apple Reactive Inks and blended these on to the grass to give it some added interest. I also stamped the sentiments on to Hero Hues Pitch Black Cardstock with Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. I applied White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set before cutting it in to a strip.

I took a panel of white cardstock and masked off the bottom section. I blended Splash Reactive Ink at the top, to create a subtle sky. The mask was removed and the grass and sentiment strip were adhered on top with Precision Glue. I then went ahead and created my scene with the rhinos, birds, clouds and butterfly. The rhinos and birds were adhered with foam tape, the rest with Precision Glue.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, happy stamping!

So cute. I too like the rule of thirds, but usually use the middle. Not sure why just do :)
