Saturdays with Sally: Starbursts!

The minute I saw the new 5-Point Stars Infinity Dies, I knew I had to try making them into hanging, sculptural ornaments! How easy and fast these became my fall centerpiece. I already had a branch to decorate, but you can probably find them outside. Mine lights up, or you can add tiny “rice” lights that are battery operated. If you want, spray the branch with paint or leave it natural. Once you have the branch to decorate, start making your stars!

Cut out LOTS of stars from fall colors like Cherry, Sand, Papaya, Pumpkin, and Mustard cardstocks. Tip: Keep all the infinity dies together with a piece of washi tape before you cut! It makes it so easy.

Also put a small piece of tape on the die cut stars so they stay in order. Then stitch them from the top of the star to the bottom, leaving threads long enough to tie knots and loops on top for hanging.

When you hang them, they will automatically start twirling and become three dimensional.

You can also use them on a card, as shown. They go through the mail flat, but when you open the card, they are sculptural. You can also interchange colors. Use the Square Infinity Dies to cut a square on the front of the card. Assemble the star and cut a larger square for the front and back to secure the threads.

These star dies have so many possibilities - tree ornaments from paper or felt, garlands, gift tags, and more. Have fun creating!
