One Layer Garden Cards - Hero Arts

One Layer Garden Cards

Are you looking forward to some crafting time this weekend? If so, maybe you’ll find a few minutes to make a one layer card for the current Hero Arts Stay Crafty Challenge.

For some additional inspiration, I’ve dug out a few of my much loved but less used floral stamps to create a pair of simple, garden themed, one layer cards.

To make my first card, I started by cutting two cloud masks from removable masking paper with the Nesting Cloudy Infinity Dies. After placing one mask onto the front of a Dove White Top Folded Card, I used Splash Reactive ink to ink over the die cut shape, repositioning and reinking the masks several times to create clouds across the top of the card. With Intens-ified Black ink, I stamped a large hello sentiment from the Affirmation Messages set and also a birthday greeting from the Flower Bouquet Pieces set onto the inked clouds. Both of these sets contain useful and beautiful sentiments for many occasions.

On the lower half of the card, I randomly stamped a collection of small floral images from the Flower Bouquet Pieces set. There are so many sweet flowers and branches in this set that are equally lovely when stamped individually or in a bouquet. To finish the card, I colored the images with colored pencils, adding simple shadows behind each flower with a gray pencil. And, although I’m not sure if adding a tiny embellishment to a one layer card is technically allowed, I couldn’t resist adding a single green enamel dot.

My second card is very similar to my first, I simply swapped a few supplies and placed the elements in different positions. This time, I used a pair of Nesting Circle Infinity Dies to create circle masks that I Inked with Taffy Reactive ink on the lower left side of the card. After inking two messages onto the circles, I stamped a pair of small hummingbirds from the From the Vault Realistic Animals set at the top of the hello message.

On this card, I stamped the floral images, as well as an adorable pair of scissors, around three edges of the card, creating a garden themed frame. I used the same brightly colored pencils to color the graphic images and once again, I added subtle gray shadows behind each image to create depth. I also stamped a few black dots between the images with the tip of an eraser. To finish this card, I added a trio of scattered blue enamel dots.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. There’s still time to join the current challenge. Entries can be submitted until Thursday, July 16 at 5:00 pm PT to be eligible for the $35 gift certificate giveaway. Happy crafting!
