May My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #5 + Giveaway

May My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #5 + Giveaway

Hello and welcome as we continue the countdown to the release of the May My Monthly Hero Kit! Release day is Monday, May 4 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. Now let's join Jess for another look at this kit that will allow you to spread love and encouragement.

Hello! Jess here with a card featuring the May My Monthly Hero Kit as well as one of the fun add-on sets!

This kit includes some great stamps and dies but I was equally excited to see a trio of Karin Decobrush metallic markers in the kit as well! They're a little different than the Karin Brushmarkers so I decided to see if they could be used for watercoloring and, spoiler alert, they totally can!! To start I taped a piece of watercolor paper to a hardboard and wet the paper thoroughly with water. Then I scribbled the markers onto a scrap piece of acetate and used a wet paintbrush to pick up the color and paint it onto my paper. I also did try scribbling on the paper and using a wet brush to blend it which worked but the other method resulted in a much smoother blend. I used a flat brush to paint my background and then set it aside to dry before trimming it down to 4.25" by 5.5".

Next I die-cut a few clouds and birds using Hero Hues Dove White and Pitch Black cardstock from an add-on set that will also be available Monday! I stamped the sentiment from the kit with Watermark & Embossing Ink and heat-embossed it with Detail Black Embossing Powder. Then I adhered the cloud borders and birds to the watercolored background. I die-cut the cute hot air balloon from the kit with Dove White cardstock and colored it with Copic markers. I adhered it to the background with foam mounting tape and then added a coating of Crystal Clear Lacquer and a sprinkling of Snowfall Glitter to finish the card.

And that's it! Make sure to check back later today for another peek at this fantastic kit before tomorrow's launch. It's going to be a must-have for sure!

Wow! The balloon almost looks like a shaker element with the crystal lacquer and glitter, especially the way you sprinkled it on. Thanks for the water coloring tips too.
