June My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway

June My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway

Hello and welcome as we begin the countdown to the release of the June My Monthly Hero Kit! Release day is Monday, June 3 at 1pm Eastern/10 am Pacific. Our Creative Team will be here for the next three days sharing ideas for using the kit, so stay tuned for more inspiration all weekend long! Now let's join Caly for a first look at the kit...

Hi, Friends! It’s Caly here today and I’m excited to share a card made using the June My Monthly Hero Kit in hopes of inspiring you to create something fun! It’s a jungle theme and there are lots of images bound to appeal to everyone. Let’s jump right in!

I created a jungle scene using a few of the foliage and floral images as well as the branch and monkey. I started by stamping the images with Intense Black Ink. Then I colored the images with Copic markers (E35, E33, E23, E57, V15, YG21, Y19, YR07, R05, R85, R22, R30, G16, G03, G19, G85, BG96, G94, YG61). After cutting out the images, I set them aside to work on the background.

If you haven’t gotten your hands on some Hero Hues Reactive Inks, you need to! They blend beautifully and come in such pretty colors! I created my background with Fog Reactive Ink and then added some darker areas using Field Greens dye ink around the left side of the card only where I knew I wanted to concentrate my images.

I splattered my card panel with some water to lift the ink, then splattered with some watered down Field Greens link for some extra texture. The sentiment from the kit is stamped and embossed in white over black cardstock (when I cut up a sentiment, I usually stamp 2-3 times so I can properly cut up each element – especially when the words are in different fonts like this one). I decided to cut up my sentiment to better fill the space I had on my card after adhering my images to the background.

I hope you enjoyed this card! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post. We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts. The winner will be announced first thing Monday morning, June 3, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Love the jungle theme of this month’s Hero Arts kit. Having lived in Florida for many years, I can now imagine tropical card scenes of a river with Spanish moss hanging off overhanging tree limbs, wild bromeliads, and the calls of colorful birds! Thanks, Hero Arts!
