July My Monthly Hero Countdown Idea #3 + Giveaway!

July My Monthly Hero Countdown Idea #3 + Giveaway!

Hello and welcome to day 2 of the countdown to the release of the July My Monthly Hero Kit! Release day is Monday, July 2nd at 1pm Eastern/10 am Pacific. Join us as we continue sharing ideas for using both the main kit, as well as the new optional add-on products that will also be available on Monday. Now let's join Emily who is sharing another idea using this darling country fair-inspired kit.

Good morning! Emily Midgett here with you on this Saturday morning to share a cotton candy-inspired project using the super fun new July My Monthly Hero kit! This kit is perfect for summer birthday cards, party invitations, encouragement cards... so many possibilities! Today, I've created a colorful shaker inspired by the dreamy pinks and aquas found in that country fair food staple: cotton candy.

I started by stamping the Ferris Wheel, fence, hot air balloon, and greeting from the main kit onto some Copic-friendly white card stock using Intense Black ink. I then colored the images in dreamy shades of pink and pale aqua using my Copic markers, then die cut them using the coordinating dies, included in the kit. I then heat embossed one of the add-ons, a background called County Fair Bold Prints, using clear embossing powder onto an A2 panel of Pool layering paper. I just wanted some subtle texture to add a bit of interest to my background.

For my shaker, I die cut a window from the same shade of Pool layering paper using the Circle Infinity Dies, then backed that panel with a piece of acetate. I added foam adhesive, filled the shaker with turquoise sequins, and adhered the two panels together. I added the Copic colored die cuts from the main kit to the front of the card, also adding some white clouds that were cut using the Nesting Cloud Infinity Dies.

Well, what do you think of the kit so far? Sweet, right? So many different directions you can go, stylistically, as the Creative Team will demonstrate over the next few days. ;) Thanks for visiting!

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We'll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all the countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, July 2nd, before the kit launches at 1pm Eastern time. The more you comment, the more chances to win! Good luck!

I love these designs. They remind me of the county fairs that I went to as a child in Ohio. Such wonderful memories…
