January My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #6 + Giveaway

January My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #6 + Giveaway

It's time for our final countdown peek before the release of the January My Monthly Hero Kit! The kit will be available tomorrow, Monday, January 7 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. Now let’s join Nichol, who is sharing another look at this sweet kit!

I knew when I saw the kit that I wanted to create a flower shop window scene with the large window/awning and the planters, flower pots, hanging plants, and more. I am always a big fan of scene cards and the main kit stamps and images make creating incredible scenes so easy! I paired the images from the main kit with a sentiment and a large flourish from the You Are Loved Flourish Messages stamp set (an add-on this month) to round out the design.

The window image was stamped on Bristol Smooth Cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and colored in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers (Turquoise Green, Green Shadow, Peach Pink, Sugared Almond Pink, Platinum Brown, and Blender). The window was die cut with the coordinating die from the main kit. The window insert was inked with Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink and stamped with the "hello" greeting from the You Are Loved Flourish Messages using Versamark Ink and heat embossed with White Detail Embossing Powder.

A 4" x 5 1/4" background panel was inked with a brick stencil and Hickory Smoke Distress Ink. The greeting square was adhered directly to the stenciled background. The flourish from the You Are Loved Flourish Messages was stamped on the background with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink. The window was adhered with foam adhesive for subtle dimension.

(Note: The stencil came from Nichol's supply stash, and is not an element included in this month's kit.)

The flower pots, crates, flowers, and watering can were all stamped on Bristol Smooth Cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and colored in with the following Zig Clean Color Real Brush Marker color combinations:

Purple Flowers/Crate: Violet, Light Violet, Light Green, Yellow Green, Brown, Light Brown, Vanilla

Red Flowers/Flower Pot: Carmine Red, Peach Pink, Sugared Almond Pink, Light Green, Yellow Green

Pink Roses/Crate: Deep Red, Pale Rose, Green, Light Green, Brown, Light Brown, Vanilla

Watering Can: Blue, Light Blue

Tulips/Bucket: Bright Yellow, Yellow, Green, Light Green, Purple, Pale Violet

Pink Flowers/Aqua Planter: Peach Pink, Sugared Almond Pink, Green, Light Green, Turquoise Green, Green Shadow

Hanging Planter: Blue, Light Blue, Green, Light Green

The images were die cut with the coordinating kit dies and adhered to the window scene. Some were adhered with foam adhesive to fill and fit the design better.

I hope this has given you some ideas on creating your own scene cards!
