Galaxy Santa - Hero Arts

Galaxy Santa

Hi everyone! Ilina here! Today I am sharing a fun out of this world (pun intended) card using the new Out of this World Christmas stamp set and coordinating dies. I am an engineer by day and was member of the national Astronomy society for years back home, so this set is right up my alley.

To make the card start by stamping the Santa using Intens-ified Black ink on Dove White cardstock. Color with alcohol based markers and die cut. Set aside.

Cut piece of Dove White cardstock measuring 4" x 5 1/4" and using one of the Circle Infinity Dies, cut out a circle. Stamp sentiment on the left side right under the die cut circle.

Cut same size piece of hot pressed watercolor paper. Heavier weight papers provide less warping when you paint and apply lots of water to them, but you can tape it to hard surface to prevent the warping, too. Use blue hues of watercolors (mixture of Hero Arts liquid watercolors), some pinks, yellow etc...use your imagination!!! To get a galaxy effect while the watercolor was still wet I sprinkled salt and let it dry. Once completely dry I used soft cloth to remove the salt. Then splattered some Sea Salt Reactive ink reinker and Unicorn White pigment ink reinker. Set aside to let it dry.

Adhere behind the window panel you created using foam mounting tape or other dimensional adhesive. Adhere Santa. Adhere the entire panel to a top folding Dove White note card.

Thank you so much for stopping by and hope you have a creative day!

Henriëtte,

Awesome card Ilina and your background and layout are fabulous.
Thank you so much for sharing and have a wonderful day.

Anne,

Always love your colors. The shading is perfection!

Stephanie B,

Beautiful card, Ilina! I love that you’re an engineer and crafter. So many people fall for the right brain, left brain idea that if you are good in math and science that you can’t also be creative and artistic. It’s not even close to true!

Barbara-Jean,

Your card is terrific!

Karthikha Uday,

Fantastic galaxy sky!! I love the blending and the white splatters! Thanks for the idea to use salt :)
