Video Friday | Create a Stencil using Die Cuts with Kelly Latevola
May 25, 2018
Hello Crafters! Today we are trying something a little different with our die cuts.
The Lovely Lilac die comes with two dies an outline layer and an intricate flower. I used some left over packaging and the outline die to create my own stencil. I found that placing a piece of cardstock under the die in addition to the plastic packaging gave me the best cut.
I used repositionable adhesive on the back of my stencil to hold it in place while I added some color with my distress inks. Once I was done I removed the stencil and started in with my copic markers.
I added a drop shadow to each of my inked flower outlines to help give them some dimension. It also masked any areas where my stencil might have moved a bit.
After I die cut my intricate flower images I added some shading to them with my markers before adhering them flat to the stenciled areas. I stacked a few of the create die cuts together to form a super thick die cut that would pop up off my background. Last but not least those beautiful flowers got a healthy coat of glitter pen.
Thank you guys so much for joining me today!
I hope you'll give this technique a try!
