Two Tone Glimmer Holiday Card | Spellbinders Live

Join Kim Kesti in the Creative Classroom as she spreads holiday card making cheer with shimmer and shine, featuring the Glimmer Hot Foil System. Kim shares a peek at the All Aboard Christmas Kit, which is beautiful from the outer box to all the card making goodies inside. Kim takes inspiration for today’s card from the color combination on the box: navy, red, green, and silver, as she creates a two-tone Glimmer card. Watch video below or on our Youtube channel: This cheerful Christmas card features two hot foil plates, the Essential Christmas Greetings Glimmer Hot Foil Plate and the Essential Duo Lines Glimmer Oval Hot Foil Plate. (Did you know the sizes of the Glimmer ovals coordinate with the Essential Ovals Etched Dies to create perfectly foiled and die cut shapes?) In today’s video Kim shares her can’t-fail product for hot foiling. It’s our Glimmer Specialty Cardstock. This synthetic cardstock reacts to heat with stunning hot foil results. (It’s also ideal for use with alcohol inks.)

Kim starts by layering her “sandwich” onto the pre-heated Glimmer machine. She starts with the oval plate, then red foil (face down - always put the shiny side towards the plate) and then she adds the Glimmer Specialty cardstock. Once the timer goes off, Kim removes the dock and runs it through the Platinum 6 die cutting machine. Next, Kim is ready to add a sentiment to the center of her foiled oval. You’ll want to watch today’s video to see the clever hinge method Kim uses to add a perfectly centered sentiment in a second color of foil. The base of Kim’s card is cut from Cosmic Sky cardstock, to echo the navy blue from her color inspiration. She uses the Big Dot Embossing Folder to add a dimensional polka-dotted background layer. This embossing folder is slimline sized, but that doesn’t mean it’s only for slimline cards. Simply trim the cardstock and layer it onto a card base for an A2 card.

Christmas Blooms is the perfect die set to embellish holiday cards, and this project is no exception! Kim adds poinsettia, greenery, flower sprigs and holly leaves, finished off with sparkly gem centers.
