Annie Williams and I’m excited to be back on the blog today to share a couple of projects using the new
Victorian Garden Collection by Susan Tierney-Cockburn. The beautiful new floral designs and fun containers in this collection inspired me to create three bright springtime cards for different occasions.
Lavender Slimline Card
I love the look and smell of real lavender so I wanted to try to make my own paper versions with this set first. Here I added a few floral stems to a pretty blue mason jar along with some leafy fillers for this pretty slimline card for a friend.
I wanted to give my stems a realistic look, so I started by cutting
Susan’s Garden Specialty Cardstock using the
Mason Jar & Lavender and
Victorian Garden Foliage Die Sets. After coloring them with Copic markers, I shaped the leaves using a small ball stylus and leaf tool. The lavender florets were cut from
Purple Mist Cardstock and I dabbed a bit of darker purple ink in the center of each with a Copic marker before cupping them with a small ball stylus and adding them to the stems with liquid glue.
Next, I cut
Waterfall Cardstock using the jar from the
Mason Jar & Lavender Die Set, added a bit of shading around the edges with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink, and coated the entire piece with 3D Galaxy Gloss for a glass-like finish (you can try Glossy Accents for this as well). I added the stems to the jar and tied a small bow out of white satin ribbon around the neck.
To create the background, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 8.25” x 3.25” and embossed it with the
Tile Reflection 3D Embossing Folder before matting it with some
Lilac Blossom Cardstock and adding it to a white card base measuring 8.5” x 3.5”. A sentiment foiled in
Prism Hot Foil from the
Sealed Glimmer Sentiments Plate Set finishes off this soft and pretty slimline card.
Cup Full of Hugs Card
The
Southern Magnolia Die Set reminded me of some of my favorite places I used to call home, so I grabbed this set next. Here I added a bold magnolia bloom to a cute teacup along with some other pretty stems for a sweet springtime hugs card.
I started by cutting
Susan’s Garden Specialty Cardstock using the petal dies from the
Southern Magnolia Die Set. After adding a little Worn Lipstick Distress Ink to the very edges and just a bit in the center of the petal layers, I shaped them with a small ball stylus and loop tool. The carpel was cut from
Peridot Cardstock and rolled before adding yellow prills, while the stamens were cut from
Beeswax Cardstock and shaped with a ball stylus before adding yellow pollen.
Fern Cardstock was the perfect deep green color to cut my magnolia leaves from, and I shaped them with the leaf tool and ball stylus for a realistic feel.
I cut some pretty floral patterned paper using the
Teacup & Saucer Die Set and added a second layer of thick white cardstock behind the paper before adding 3D Galaxy Gloss to prevent warping. The glossy medium gives this piece such a beautiful porcelain-like finish! Filler stems were created for the cup as described above.
To create the background, I trimmed a piece of
Waterfall Cardstock to 4.75” 6.75” and embossed it with the
Circle Illusion 3D Embossing Folder before adding it to a top-folding A7-sized white card base with foam adhesive. To finish off the card, I added a sentiment foiled in
Moondust Hot Foil with the
We Dance Glimmer Sentiments Plate Set.
Spider Mum Hello Card
Lastly, I wanted to create a bright and cheery hello card with two different kinds of mums and a few foiled accents.
After cutting all of the petal layers from the
Spider Mum Die Set out of
Susan’s Garden Specialty Cardstock, I colored them in peachy tones with Copic Markers and shaped them with a leaf tool and tweezers. The leaves were cut from
Rainforest Cardstock and inked around the edges with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink before being shaped with a leaf tool and small ball stylus. I also created a smaller mum in a similar fashion using the
Button & Daisy Chrysanthemum Die Set.
For the background, I trimmed a piece of
Cosmic Sky Cardstock to 4.75” x 6.75” and applied
Gold Hot Foil to the upper left corner using the
Glimmer Ferns Glimmer Plate. After matting it with some Mirror Gold Hot Foil, I added it to a top-folding A7-sized white card base and built my bouquet on top. To finish off the card, I added a sentiment foiled in gold using the
Hello Friend Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set and a few
Gold Mix Gems.
