Let’s Create Some Pretty Packaging!
Hello there, Michelle Short here and I am delighted to be back on the Spellbinders blog using the Sealed 3D Christmas Collection. This beautiful collection features two press plates, a box die, 3 wax seal stamps and lots of beautiful wax beads!
I thought for my blog post today that I would focus on creating pretty packaging. I love gift-giving and making things look pretty, so for today, I have some boxes, tags, and envelopes to share with you.
RED & GOLD CHRISTMAS
For my first project, I created a box using the new Ribbon Box Etched Dies. Not only is this box beautiful, but it is also really easy to put together! You just cut the die twice, fold along the scoring lines, add adhesive and adhere the two pieces together, securing at the bottom.
To make this box:
TIP: I do find it easier to cut boxes from a slightly thinner weight cardstock (80lb) but this die scores really well even on thicker cardstock (100lb). For best results, fold score lines with a bone folder.
Create wax seal using the Wax Seal Starter Kit: melt Candy Apple Wax Beads in the spoon placed on the wax bead warmer. Once melted, pour onto the silicon mat and place Poinsettia 3D Wax Seal on top and wait for a minute or so. Once cool, remove from mat.
Adhere wax seal to box using double-sided tape.
I wanted to create a coordinating tag to go with the box. I thought it would work well on a separate gift or could be added to a card.
To make the tag:
The wax seals in the collection are Christmas themed, however, the Boo! 3D Wax Seal from the Happy Haunting Collection works perfectly with the new Halloween Must-Have Bead Mix, so I had to have a play and create a box and envelope.
To make this box:
Heat up wax seal a little and place ghost back inside recessed area.
Melt Twilight Purple Wax Beads (I used 5), once melted, pour onto silicone mat and place wax seal on top. Since the ghost part is already in the wax seal, it does not place down as low on the wax as it usually would but leave it place to cool so that the purple wax melts around the white.
I then adhered the wax seal to a Brushed Black Envelope for a fun finishing touch to a card I will send.
BLUE & GOLD CHRISTMAS
I do love the traditional red at Christmas, but I also love blue too. Blue pairs perfectly with silver for a frosty look but also gold for a more elegant look. I opted for gold today!
I was having so much fun creating boxes that I needed to make another but this time with 3D embossing.
To make this box:
I wanted to create a coordinating tag to go with the box again but this time, I thought it would work well as either a tag or as an ornament.
To make this tag:
I had so much fun creating this packaging! Whilst I love making cards, it was nice to make something different and use all the lovely new colours of wax beads. There are a few other colours that have been released that I didn’t use on my projects but hopefully I will get to use them soon! Thank you so much for stopping by today, I hope you have a wonderful day!
