Lavender & Poppies Inspiration with Elena. Take 1: Red & Black
Dec 19, 2017
Hello dear readers! This is Elena Salo from elenasalo.com and I’m so thrilled and honored to be a guest designer here again.
I’m a big fan of flowers, almost all kinds of them. And, of course, it was a great pleasure for me to use dies from Lavender and Poppies Collection. I’ve got a lot of projects to show you today, I just couldn’t stop making cards using these fabulous dies!
In this post I’d like to show how you I used sets of dies with Poppies only and I'll share Lavender inspiration later.
I decided to use black base for all my projects, because this color helps to express the ultimate beauty of the poppies as no other. To create extra dimension, I die cut poppies twice out of regular white cardstock and one more out of red foam sheet. I colored all of the die cuts with red and green alcohol markers of different shades to accent the embossed parts even more. Click images to enlarge and see details up close.
I colored the base layer of the die cuts with markers, then die-cut only flowers using foam and adhered them onto the first layer. After that I cut out flowers one more time out of white cardstock adhere them onto the foam and colored the poppies with markers. You can notice some dimension on the photos.
To color the centers of the flowers, I used thin black marker and then added some glitter and the liquid crystal drops.
