Hero Arts _ Butterfly Birthday Card_ May Park

Are you a fan of butterfly? To be honest, I'm not. But I really wanted to play with Butterfly Pair Stamp & Cut as it includes very interesting dies in the set.

Hero Arts _ Butterfly Birthday Card_ May Park

I started by stamping the butterfly images from Butterfly Pair Stamp & Cut and Mason Jar Bugs to create my own background.

Here are the Bold Ink pads I used for my colored stamping: Tangerine, Mulled Wine, Strawberry, Dandelion and Summer Sky.

Then I colored the images with Copic markers and added some shimmer on the wings using Wink of Stella. It's a shame you can't see the wings shimmering with glitters. They are beautiful in real life.

After die cutting two butterflies using dies from Butterfly Pair Stamp & Cut, the sentiment was heat embossed on a piece of yellow cardstock from Sunshine Mix Layering Papers using white embossing powder.

I love that the dies cut wings only. It created some beautiful dimension and shadows under the wings. To finish off my card, I added some clear sequins.

This is a video showing you how I created my card. You can watch the video tutorial here or in HD on YouTube. I'm also sharing how to organize ink pads in the video. Hope you enjoy watching it.

I love when I have stamps that can be colored using any of your favorite coloring techniques. Today's card features a pair of pretty stamps called [hero_product_link sku="G6130" text="Potted Succulent"] and [hero_product_link sku="E6140" text="Small Potted Succulent"], as well as their matching [hero_product_link sku="DI174" text="Frame Cuts"].

I stamped the images with [hero_product_link sku="AF345" text="Intense Black Ink"]. I have to say that this ink is amazingly black, and the best part is that it is watercolor and marker friendly. I just love it. I have used watercolors to color these particular stamps before, but this time I chose markers instead. After I colored the images, I added glaze over some of the leaves, just to add a little bit of interest to them. Additionally I used foam along with its matching Frame Cuts to add dimension.

Shadow Inks have always been my favorite since the first time I tried them. The ink spreads evenly after you stamp the image, and the colors are very pretty. So that is why I chose Shadow Inks to stamp a partial plaid background for my card, and I created it with a DIY stamp, that I made from a strip of foam and an acrylic block.

I stamped a simple sentiment also with [hero_product_link sku="AF345" text="Intense Black Ink"]. This sentiment belongs to one of my current favorite stamp sets: [hero_product_link sku="CL954" text="Many Everyday Messages"]. As its name says, this set has a lot of message options, great for almost any occasion. As always I added some orange and green gemstones, I love the bling!

Thanks for joining me today,

I'm always pretty pleased when I can complete a card that has texture and is still postal friendly. Have you tried out any of the Paper Layering Dies? Check out the oh-so-fun [hero_product_link sku="DI160" text="Paper Layering Pineapple"]:

One of the many beauties of these dies...the awesome texture. It literally makes the card for you.

The watercoloring on the top layer took no time at all. I used Zig Clean Color Markers. I paired the Pineapple with a sentiment from the [hero_product_link sku="CL924" text="Hello Gorgeous stamp set"]. I decided to use [hero_product_link sku="AF345" text="Intense Black"] for the sentiment. My base panel just consists of yellow swipes from my Zig Marker that I followed up with water to soften up the overall look and color.

I'm a huge fan of pineapples! There's a sweet wood mount [hero_product_link sku="F6078" text="Pineapple stamp"] in the shop.

P.S. Pink pineapple? Why not?!
