Happy World Card Making Day! + Giveaway!

Happy World Card Making Day! + Giveaway!

Happy World Card Making Day, friends! We admit it, this is one of our very favorite days of the year. We hope you are able to set a little time aside today to get inky! We have a fun giveaway for you at the end of this post, but first, here's a couple cardmaking ideas from our fabulous Creative Team member, Ilina!

Today I have couple different, yet similar cards that use the Marble Bold Prints background stamp. The first time I saw this stamp it reminded me of latte art. So, my first card is a coffee inspired one. I used the Soft Brown to Cup o' Joe Ombre ink pad to stamp the Marble background onto 3 3/4" x 5" Earth mix layering paper (I used the latte hue). I stamped the images from Coffee and Croissant woodblock set onto Snow Layering papers using Intense black ink. Colored them with Chameleon pens, Color Tops and Prismacolor pencils, then I cut them out.

Using the Circle infinity dies I cut a vellum circle and adhered the images on it. I applied adhesive on the back of the vellum under the images (so it's not visible) and adhered to the marble stamped panel. I stamped the sentiment from French Treats on Midnight mix layering paper (black) and embossed in white. I adhered to the panel, added Champagne mix sequins and adhered onto Earth mix folded cards (eggshell hue) using fun foam to add dimension.

For the second card I decided to use the background for a Christmas-themed card, so I paired it up with Christmas Tree Trimmings woodblock set. I stamped the Marble background onto Blush layering paper (grenadine hue) using Red Royal ink. Next I stamped the images from the set onto Snow Layering paper using Red Royal, Pine, Fresh Lawn and Lime Green ink pads and die cut them using the coordinating frame cuts.

I cut a 1/2" strip of vellum and stamped the sentiment from Vintage Christmas Wishes and embossed in white. I adhered the strip with the sentiment onto my panel (I wrapped it on the right side and adhered on the back of the panel. The other end is under the flowers and used regular adhesive because that end is not visible. Next step was to arrange and adhere all of the stamped elements. I adhered the panel onto a Snow folded note card and added sequins from the Champagne and Frost mixes.

It wouldn't be a World CardMaking Day celebration without a giveaway, now would it? Today we have a $25 gift certificate to the Hero Arts Store - just leave us a comment and let us know what you'll be stamping today! Leave your comments by Wednesday, October 11 at 11:59pm pacific, and we'll announce the winner here on the blog shortly after.

Thanks for stopping by today!

My favorite thing to stamp is “just because” cards. It’s a total surprise when you go to the mail box. It’s about making people happy.
