Video: Shadow Box Card with March My Monthly Hero Kit

Hello, friends! It’s Channin here with a video demonstrating how I created this shadow box card with the March My Monthly Hero Kit.

The new stamp set included in this kit is so much fun to play with!! The second I got it I started building different scenes, playing with different colors and arrangements! Then I thought how fun it would be to create a 3D landscape with a shadow box card!! Please check out the video below to see the whole process.

(If you are having trouble viewing this video, please try watching it HERE on YouTube.)

First, I trimmed down a sheet of Dove White cardstock to create two A2 panels (4 1/4” x 5 1/2”) and one panel measuring 4 1/4” x 5”. I then scored all the panels at 1/2” and 4 1/2”.

Next, I cut a window out from one of the A2 panels with a ruler and a craft knife. I then added score tape to the outside of the 1/2” flaps on the A2 panels.

Next, I stamped two landscapes in Green Hills (first layer) and Field Greens (second layer) onto white cardstock and then die cut them out with the matching dies. I then trimmed the landscapes both down to 4” wide and then trimmed one shorter to 3/4” tall. I then stamped two tree tops in Cotton Candy (first layer) and Rose Madder (second layer). Next, I stamped the tree trunks in Caramel and Cup O’ Joe. I then die cut trees out and then adhered the trunks to the trees.

Next I adhered one of the trees to the larger landscape and then placed the landscape onto the smaller panel and then traced the top with a pencil. Next, I fussy cut along the traced line and then adhered the landscape to the panel. I then added score tape to the flaps on the panel and then assembled the shadow box.

Once the card was assembled, I adhered the second landscape (the smaller one) on the inside of the window and the other tree outside. I then finished the card by stamping a sentiment in Intens-ified Black Ink onto a 4 1/2” x 4” panel of Mist cardstock and adhered the panel to the the background of the shadow box.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and video! Thank you so much for stopping by!

I haven’t tried a dimensional card yet, but your video instruction is enough to make me want to give it a try. Great video and very easy to understand the steps and follow along.
