Video: Prismacolor Pencils on Hero Arts Layering Papers

Good morning! Emily here with you today for my first video for Hero Arts! For my very first post on the Hero Arts blog, I worked with my Prismacolor colored pencils on the Hero Arts Layering Papers and discovered that the papers work beautifully with pencils. The coating on the top of the paper allows the pencils to blend like butter, because the color stays on the top of the paper. For my first video, I wanted to showcase this technique, because I absolutely love finding new uses for supplies that I already have, and thought you might love it too!

You can watch the video below or in HD here .

To start, I die cut a few of the flowers and foliage from the Blossoms for Coloring stamp set with the coordinating Frame Cuts from the dark gray Midnight Mixed Layering Papers . My intention was to create a monochromatic background, but with lots of dimension and texture and bright pops of color. Coloring on the same colored card stock that you use for the background is a great way to achieve that monochromatic look with that lovely pop of color. Those white die cut edges bug me enough that I just had to find a way to work around it haha!

I stamped all of the images using Unicorn pigment ink, then used my Prismacolor colored pencils and blender pencil to smoothly and quickly blend the colors together. Sometimes, working with pencils can be very time consuming, but for a quick and easy penciled card, the coating on the Layering Papers helps to move the color smoothly and quickly, because you only need one layer of color before doing your blending. After I finished my coloring, I die cut a frame using the Rounded Rectangle Infinity Dies from the same shade of Midnight Mix Layering Papers.

I stamped a greeting from Hand Drawn Everyday Messages using Versamark ink and heat embossed it in white on an A2 Midnight Mix card front, then adhered my Rounded Rectangle frame with dimensional foam adhesive. Next, I adhered my cluster of Blossoms for Coloring in the corner, and then added a few clear gems to add some sparkle and fill in some bare spots on the bouquet.

Well, that's all for me today! I hope you enjoyed my video and were able to take away a few tips that will help you get some new uses for your Hero Arts Layering Papers! Thanks so much for visiting, and have a marvelous day!
