Hello there and welcome to Monday on the Hero Arts blog! Today, I am sharing flick style coloring with pencils featuring the blissful Bouquet wood mount stamp.
As wedding season draws near I'm working on building my stash of congratulatory cards. I have zero in my stash. My mojo goes out the window when I "need" to create so working ahead and leaving the inside of the card blank until I personalize it for the recipient works great for me.

The background was created by dripping Jacquard Piñata Brass and Pearl metallic alcohol inks with drops of rubbing alcohol on heavy weight Yupo paper. I tilted the paper to spread the ink for an organic shape and set it aside to dry.
The shine is outstanding and really sets off the Bouquet . And that texture!?! Ah, so complementary to the smoothness (yet enough tooth to color!) of the Snow Layering paper and Polychromo colored pencils.
Flick strokes, they are often used in Copic marker coloring, but it is a technique that works well for pencils too. After stamping the image in Black on Snow Layering paper, start at the darkest point and flick toward the center area or highlight. If you are a confident colorist, feel free to start with a dark shade and then up through the lighter. If you are timid, begin with a light shade and move through the darker shades with a light hand. The darker the shade, the less you should see of it (generally). You can always go in and darken further, but it is difficult to lighten.
I am completely enamored with the way the Bouquet stands above the metallic with the Happily Ever After banner perched atop. I used a tall dimensional adhesive, but two layers of good ol' foam tape would work just as well.

Beautiful card Janette!
Janette, I absolutely love what you have done with this card! I;m going to pull out my pencils, find a floral bouquet, and go for it. Would it work to use the alcohol ink on shiny paper for the background? I’m going to try that out, as I don’t have any Yupo. Thanks for the inspiration!

Gina, ABSOLUTELY love all the cards , the colors and layouts. I think if I had the way of getting my little fat hands on something fun, I would diffenitely be getting into trouble. That’s like walking into a candy store one would want everything.
