September My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway

September My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway

Hello! Today we're kicking off the countdown to the release of the September My Monthly Hero Kit! Release day is a day later than usual this month due to the Labor Day holiday - we're launching on Tuesday, September 3rd at 1pm Eastern/10 am Pacific. We will be here throughout the weekend, sharing inspiration before the launch. Now let's join Jayne Nelson for the first look at the new kit!

When I get new stamps and dies, I love thinking about all of the possible cards and projects that I could make. The variety of small image and sentiment stamps, paired with a peek-a-boo cabinet die and a few sentiment dies, make the possibilities for this month's My Monthly Hero kit seem limitless.

For my card today, I die cut a panel from white cardstock with the card-sized, peek-a-boo cabinet die. I thought that it would be fun to create a colorful file cabinet on my card so I blotted the panel into several, rainbow Reactive Inks that I blended with water on my craft mat. After drying the paper with a heat gun, I carefully aligned and stamped the coordinating cabinet stamp onto the panel with Intense Black ink. I also randomly stamped a variety of drawer pulls and handles from the kit onto some of the hinged doors.

Using colored pencils, I shaded the stamped images, matching the colors with the nearest background inks. I also used a silver pencil to color the metal brackets. Then, I secured the panel to a folded white card, being careful not to adhere any hinged doors shut that I wanted to remain operational. For each of the working doors, I stamped a small, secret message behind the door with black ink.

To further embellish the file cabinet, I heat embossed tiny messages and images from the kit onto small pieces of rainbow colored cardstock. I attached each trimmed piece over a secured cabinet door with foam adhesive. I love how the extra dimension and color blocks add interest to the design. For a finishing touch, I added rainbow sequins onto the card.

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post. We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts. The winner will be announced first thing Tuesday morning, September 3rd, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Happy stamping!

I’ve never done a peek a boo card but that is really cute! So many things are going through my head with what you can do with this set. I love the colors you chose and the layering of card stock gives it that WOW factor! Great job…can’t wait until Tuesday. I’m impatiently waiting :-)

I really like the way this background stamp looks like an old printmaker’s box that held all of the individual letters needed in a printing press. Beautiful!
