September My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway!

September My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway!

Hello and welcome as we begin the countdown to the release of the September My Monthly Hero Kit! Release day is Tuesday, September 4th at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. This month we are one day later than normal due to the Labor Day holiday. We will be here for the next four days, sharing ideas for using both the main kit, as well as the new optional add-on products that will also be available on Tuesday. Stay tuned for more inspiration all weekend long! Now let's join Janette for a first look at this autumnal inspired kit.

Fall is drawing near and soon pumpkins and costumed children will be upon our porches. As the nights cool, the leaves begin to turn into all the shades... wait. What? I'm in central California. We barely have two seasons, much less four. I envy those in locations with gorgeous fall foliage! My project today is inspired by my dreams, and pictures, and posts of places I have yet to see!

After a careful layout session, begin by stamping the image that will appear most forward, the closest. In this case it is the seed pod to the left of the vase. Stamp image in water and alcohol friendly Intense Black Hybrid ink on watercolor paper. I prefer a hot press paper for a smooth surface that lends itself well to crisp stamped images. Mask that image and then stamp the next. In this case, either the branches tucked behind the pod or the vase could equally be next. Continue stamping and masking until scene is complete.

Then comes my favorite part, watercoloring! Included in the kit this month is a Daniel Smith Watercolor Dot Card with six colors. I painted the entire image with the included colors alone.

Once finished painting the objects I added a swath of green to ground the setting and stamped the kit included "thankful" sentiment. Trim panel to 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" and adhere to an A2 (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") folded card base.

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Tuesday morning, September 4, before the kit launches at 1pm Eastern. The more you comment, the more chances to win!
