Pop Up Present

Hello there, Michelle here sharing a card using the Paper Layering Present Gift Card Pop Up Fancy Die. This is such a fun die that can be used to place a gift card inside of a card, or you could just use it as a pop feature in itself inside a card.

I started off my card by creating the outside portion of the card. I took a piece of Hero Hues Nautical Premium Cardstock and made this into a card base (cut to 5.5" x 8.5" and scored at 4.25"). I then masked off what would be the back of the card and placed the card into my MISTI. I took the Hand Drawn Snowflakes Bold Prints and stamped this on to the front panel using Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. I then removed the mask.

While the ink was drying, I took the Christmas Message Fancy Die and cut this three times from Hero Hues Dove White Premium Cardstock. I stacked these up and adhered them together on to the front of the card with Precision Glue. I wanted to keep the front of the card simple since there is a lot going on in the inside of the card too.

For the inside, I first took a piece of 8.5" x 5.5" Hero Hues Dove White Premium Cardstock and placed the Paper Layering Present Gift Card Pop Up Fancy Die in the middle. I ran this through my die cutting machine and then using the lines that the die scores, I completed the score lines on to the cardstock with a bone folder. This is so that the card can fold in the middle. I then cut this panel down slightly so that when it fits inside the other card base (made from the Nautical cardstock), there is a small border around it.

To make sure that the pop up present folds down flat when the card closes, I reinforced the score lines that the die makes at the top of the present. I then closed the card and used a bone folder to push them down from the back. To add a bit of colour to the present, I decided to cut the die from more Hero Hues Nautical Premium Cardstock, as well as silver glitter paper. I then cut around the edges of the pieces with scissors and adhered them on top of the present on the white panel.

I took the sentiment from the Snarky Christmas Messages set and stamped this below the present on the panel, using Intens-ified Black Ink. I also die cut the Snowflake Edge Fancy Die from more Hero Hues Nautical Premium Cardstock and adhered this to the bottom of the panel. This panel was then adhered inside the orginal card base made from Nautical cardstock, with tape runner (making sure not to add adhesive on the pop up parts).

This did take a little time to make but you could simplify it by not adding the extra layers of cardstock on the present. You could have the colour of the present be the colour of the cardstock panel, or if you cut it from white cardstock, you could colour the present part with markers, pencils or watercolors. As you can see in the photo above, the die is perfectly sized to fit a gift card behind it, but I do think it looks nice on its own too.

Although the card is a little thicker, it will still fit in a standard sized envelope but if you were mailing it, you may want to use a bubble mailer instead. Thank you so much for stopping by today, I hope you have a wonderful day!
