July My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #4 + Giveaway

July My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #4 + Giveaway

It's time for another countdown peek! The July My Monthly Hero kit will be available to pre-order on Monday, July 13 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. Now let’s join Jess for some fabulous inspiration using this month's kit!

Hello! Don't you just love this kit?! I love all the underwater images and today I'm sharing how to create a card with lots of color variety using only three colors of ink!

There are tons of great aquas, blues, and teal inks in the Hero Arts ink family but I decided to narrow down to using just three inks: Aegean, Aquatic, and one of my favorites, Navy! And I used them in a few different ways so that it looks like I'm using way more than just three inks on my card! ;)

To start I stamped the new Color Layering image from the kit using my three chosen inks. For the solid bottom layer I inked it with Aegean and Aquatic ink and stamped it with my MISTI. Next I cleaned off the stamp and then swiped my Navy ink pad along the bottom of the stamp and stamped it again. This just added a little depth to the bottom of the stamp. I stamped the middle layer with Navy ink and then heat-embossed the top layer with Brass Embossing Powder.

I die-cut it with the coordinating die included in the kit and then used a VERY light hand to blend a little Navy ink along the white edges of the die-cut to help it blend better. Next I die-cut the stand alone ruins with Nautical Hero Hues Cardstock. I layered them together so that the ruins peeked out from behind the stamped landscape. Then I blended the same three inks: Aegean, Aquatic, and Navy onto a panel of bristol smooth white cardstock. I stamped my sentiment and the cute dolphins with Navy ink and then adhered the rest of my scene to the blended panel to finish the underwater paradise!

*** Win a kit before you can buy it *** Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post. We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts. The winner will be announced first thing Monday morning, July 13, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Good luck!

Just love the deep, shadowy look of this card with the ruins and the brightly colored foliage elements that contrast so nicely! A super card!

What a nice under sea look with all the blue and surprising it was only a few colors. I really like all the sea plants with the ruins in the background!
