One can never have too many Thank You cards on hand so I think its always a good idea to make one just in case. Today I'm sharing one in a black and white color combo. I rarely create monochromatic cards, but for this project I was inspired by a stamping mistake.
I was experimenting and trying various color combinations to stamp several orchids from the hero_product_link sku="CL946" text="Orchid in a Pot set"] for a card and didn't do a good job cleaning my stamps. We've all been there, usually it's very frustrating, but this time I was pleasantly surprised by the end result.
I was using various reds to stamp the orchid layers and I had hero_product_link sku="AF225" text="Red Royal"] residue on the base layer of my image when I inked it up with hero_product_link sku="AF226" text="Soft Granite"]. After stamping it I added another layer in hero_product_link sku="AF101" text="black"] and realized that my flowers have a beautiful red undertone to them. I die cut the orchid plant out using hero_product_link sku="DI177" text="matching dies"], thoroughly cleaned my stamp with hero_product_link sku="NK202" text="Ultra Clean"] and a hero_product_link sku="NK301" text="scrubber pad"], stamped it again using the intended color combo and created the card above.
You can clearly see the difference between the true Soft Granite color and the one with a reddish hue to it on the photo below. While usually I throw away stamped mistakes like this one, I wanted to keep this particular image as this gave me an easy variation to the colors I planned to use for my card.
I'm hoping to do more experiments with this in the future to see how other colors are going to behave with a bit of red residue on the stamps. I think yellow and peach would look nice, that would be especially helpful for color layering stamp sets.
To finish this card I also die cut a hero_product_link sku="DC152" text="Thanks word"] out of black cardstock and heat embossed "for your kindness" in hero_product_link sku="PW110" text="white"] onto black card. I also added a couple of sequins and a glossy accents drop to the center of each orchid. By the way, I only used two layers to stamp these flowers today, although the stamp set has three. I always try to find ways to make my flowers unique and skipping a layer seems like a good idea.
