February My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #2 + Giveaway!

February My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #2 + Giveaway!

Hello and welcome as we begin the countdown to the release of the February My Monthly Hero kit! Release day is Monday, February 5th at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. We'll be here for the next three days, sharing ideas for using both the main kit, as well as new optional add-on products that will also be available on Monday. And, remember to comment on each and every post as we'll be giving away a kit on Monday morning, before the kit launches! Now join Emily as she shares another glimpse at this lovely kit...

Good morning (or afternoon, depending on where you are)! I'm here with you today to help introduce the sophisticated and versatile My Monthly Hero kit for February. There's something so perfectly springy about birds, and with the weather we've been having, I could use a little springtime in my craft room!

For this project, I started by stamping the Branches Bold Prints background stamp on an A2 panel of Blush layering paper using Soft Blossom ink. I then die cut a Rounded Rectangle Infinity die from the new 2018 catalog from some masking paper and adhered it roughly in the center of the A2 panel. I used my blending tool and some more Soft Blossom ink to blend around the edge... I love how the coral shade of the paper makes this pretty soft pink ink seem almost orange! While the masking paper was still adhered to the A2 panel, I also pressed my Versamark ink pad down around the edge of the panel, then added Sparkle embossing powder and heat embossed. When you pull away the masking paper, you have a pretty, sparkly frame around some lovely monochromatic branches!

After I had completed my background, I heat embossed the branch image and one of the birds from the main kit onto some vellum several times using Silver embossing powder. I used the coordinating dies to cut everything out, then trimmed some of the branches off and arranged them in a generously-sized cluster using both dimensional adhesive and liquid adhesive. I also added some flowers (from one of the add-on die sets) that I covered in Versamark and added Sparkle embossing powder to tie into the sparkly frame. The lovely, encouraging sentiment from the main kit was also heat embossed in silver. The final touch was to add some gray enamel drops here and there!

I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek into this utterly lovely springtime kit! So many charming and versatile bits and pieces in this one... You're not going to want to miss it!

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, February 5th, before the kit launches at 1 pm Eastern. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Good luck, and have a marvelous day!
