Combining Fancy Dies with Favorite Stamps

Hello! I’m excited to be sharing a card today that I made with one of my favorite new Looking Glass Dies. The Looking Glass Hot Air Balloons set is a set of three dies that can be used individually or together, to create beautiful, layered, balloon-filled focal points. For my card, I combined this Fancy Die with one of my most loved floral stamps to make a fun, adventure inspired card.

To make today’s card, I started by creating a side-folding card base from Nautical cardstock. Then, using a Nesting Rectangle Infinity Die, I die cut a panel of Mist cardstock slightly smaller than the card front. To draw attention to the center of the panel, I stamped a portion of the gorgeous flower stem from the Sweet as Honey set, at the upper right and lower left corners with Navy ink. Although it’s hard to see in the photos, I stamped over the stems with Embossing & Watermark Ink and embossed them with Clear Embossing Powder to create shiny, raised flowers.

Next, I die-cut a 2-1/2” square from the center of the panel using a Square Infinity Die. I used the square Looking Glass Circle & Square Frames die to cut a gold mat from Glitter Paper that I secured behind the window with adhesive tape.

To create the hot air balloon focal point, I started by selecting three shades of cardstock, Periwinkle, Mist and Dove White, for each of the layers. Then, using the same Square Infinity die, I die-cut a 2-1/2” square from each of these three cardstocks. Next, I centered a Looking Glass die onto each of the three squares and die-cut each layer. I secured the three layers together at the edges with Precision Glue. To create the hot air balloon window, I secured the layered element behind the gold frame with adhesive tape.

To finish the card, I simply secured the window panel to the card with foam tape. I added a bit of glue behind a few of the balloons and clouds for extra stability. I also added an encouraging white embossed sentiment strip from the Rainbow HeroScape set and then a trio of Blue Enamel Dots for some extra shine.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. If you're looking for some new inspiration, perhaps you'll find it in a Fancy Die paired with a favorite stamp. As always, wishing you a very happy, crafty day!
