Video: Bold Holiday Postage

Hi crafty friends! Natasha Polite joining you today with a video tutorial featuring the Holiday Foliage Stencil from the 2024 Holiday Catalog release.

This simple stencil can definitely pack a punch depending on how you use it. Most would simply ink blend. I considered both wet and dry embossing using this stencil. However, I landed on using Hero Wax and lacquer pens to add color and was able to get two different looks doing so. You can see my full tutorial below.

(If you are having trouble viewing this video, please watch HERE on YouTube.)

I thought this design would look nice as a postage stamp, so that is exactly what I created. I die cut the second largest Postage Infinity Die from Dove White cardstock. I then cut down a panel of Nautical cardstock to create the postage design. Using the stencil, I first added Olive Hero Wax onto all of the areas of greenery. I then added gold to the center of the main poinsettia, the berry branch, and then buffed that into the inner corners of the leaves.

I cleaned my stencil and ensured the wax was dry before moving on. Then I used Unicorn ink to stencil the berries and poinsettia leaves. This inking would act as a guide for my lacquer pens. Using the Clear lacquer pen, I went over the poinsettia leaves. The Silver lacquer pen was used for the berries. I went back after these areas dried, and added more lacquer to the poinsettia leaves.

Heat setting throughout the process of creating this card is very important. Ensure that the mediums are dry before adding more stenciling or layering something on top. An A2 panel of Nautical cardstock was used for the back panel. I stenciled using Gold Hero Wax . For the sentiment, I grabbed the Color Layering Holly Branch and heat embossed the "Holly Jolly" onto a clear panel using White Detail embossing powder.

I used double sided adhesive to adhere the sentiment and the small panel to the white postage die cut. I then popped this up onto the A2 panel at an angle for interest.

I hope you enjoy my tutorial and find some inspiration from this card.

Happy Crafting,
