August My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea 2+ Giveaway!

August My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea 2+ Giveaway!

We are back for another countdown post, leading up to the release of the August My Monthly Hero kit! Release day is Monday, August 6th at 1pm Eastern/10 am Pacific. We'll be sharing ideas for using both the main kit, as well as new optional add-on products that will be available on Monday. And don't forget to leave a comment on this and every post as we will be giving away a kit on Monday. Now let's join Emily who is sharing another look at this fabulous kit...

Good morning! Emily Midgett here with you today with some more inspiration using the fantastic new coffee-themed August My Monthly Hero kit. This month's kit features a beautiful, 6x8 stamp set, coordinating dies, as well as an utterly lovely Fancy Die that creates a lush little cafe scene. I've chosen to use the Hero Arts Liquid Watercolors to create a shaker card with this fancy die.

I started by die cutting this gorgeous Fancy Die from some watercolor paper. It cut beautifully with just two passes in my Vagabond; no need to use a craft knife to cut sections that didn't cut all the way through. I then used the Hero Arts Liquid Watercolors in shades of Artprint Brown, Black, Pine, Dark Teal, Purple, and Indigo to add some color to this little cafe scene. It's a little looser and less precisely shadowed than I normally like, but I think it adds an element of charm....at least that's what I'm telling myself. ;)

After I had completed my watercoloring, I backed the panel with some acetate, then added a frame of foam tape to the back to create the shaker element. I used my MISTI to place the sentiment from the new August My Monthly Hero kit in just the right spot on the card front, then white heat embossed it on an A2 panel of Pool card stock.

The final step was to fill the shaker with some Ombre Ocean sequins.

Well, that's all for me today! Stay tuned all weekend long for lots of inspiration from the Creative Team using the new August My Monthly Hero kit. Thanks so much for visiting!

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We'll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all the countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, August 6th, before the kit launches at 1pm Eastern time. The more you comment, the more chances to win! Good luck!
