April My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway!

April My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway!

Hello and welcome as we begin the countdown to the release of the April My Monthly Hero Kit! Release day is Monday, April 2nd at 1pm Eastern/10 am Pacific. We are beginning a day early this month in observance of Easter and will be here for the next three days, sharing ideas for using both the main kit, as well as the new optional add-on products that will also be available on Monday. Stay tuned for more inspiration! Now let's join Janette who is sharing the first look at this lively and entertaining kit.

It's party time, my friends! This month's fiesta themed kit is a fun one, indeed! Aside from all of the awesome stamps and sentiments, the main kit includes a full size frame die that lends itself to much more than this kit. I've kept it simple and white today, but I've got ideas for so much more!

I began by ink blending with Distress Oxides on smooth bristol paper. When I ink blend, with most any ink, I start with my lightest shade and work through the darkest.

I placed the Snow Layering Paper frame die cut upside down on fun foam and used a dotting tool, or any tool with a gently rounded tip, to press into the petals of the large center flowers so that they would bow forward with dimension.

Next, I stamped the piñata in Intense Black ink and colored him simply with Distress Oxide reinkers and a fine paint brush. Once dry, I cut him out and applied dimensional adhesive to the back leaving the release paper in tact so that I could verify exactly where I wanted him in relation to the sentiment and frame die cut.

I adhered the frame in place on the A2 blended panel. Using a MISTI, I stamped the sentiment in Intense Black and adhered the piñata.

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We'll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all the countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, April 2nd, before the kit launches at 1pm Eastern. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Good luck!

Painting with Distress Oxide re-inkers works beautifully here, blending well with the background colors. I like how you curved out the main flowers in the frame. Very pretty!
